Commercial Description:
Having downed his forth Imperial Stout of theay, the wild eyed charlatan from Voldvostogniaky belched and hollered for the Czarina to enter his chamber and bend herself to his will. The economy was a wreck and revolt was just around the corner. Nicky the Czar dude was off playing soldier like any pale nobleman with a hemorrphagic skin condition would. Such were the final days of the old empire. Reactionary, decadent, sputnik, stroganoff, wierd, and drunk. But even as the proletariat countryside labored under inhuman conditions and a threat of being sent to futile war in the east, they wisely took the time to slam back an Imperial Stout or two. After all, life can be a real "suka", as they say in the old country. Big, black, bourgeois, bolshoy, belligerent, buxom, and scary - this is our version of the chaotic end of an era in a bottle.

Bomber. Nearly black (garnet on the edges) with a nice tan head. Strong nose of chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel moderate for a stout. Flavor has a little sweetness, with more hops showing through than you see with many stouts. A little light for an Imperial Stout, but overall a quite decent offering by Lagunitas.

Bomber. Pours a blackish brown with garnet highlights and a fading tan head. The aroma has the requisite coffee and chocolate, but doesn’t give the big impression of an imperial. The body is a bit light for an impy as well. If you don’t like the almost syrupy qualities of some imperial stouts this could be a plus. The taste has some sweetness, but is not particularly complex; with coffee chocolate, smoke and a bit of hoppy bitterness on the exit. This is a very nice beer, and the price was right but it’s just barely sneaking into imperial territory. I like the label which identifies it as a special "UNLIMITED RELEASE" :)

A black appearance with a tan head. This one was quite one dimensional for an imperial stout. A lot of coffee and chocolate flavor. Some licorice is also present. It wasnt bad but doesn’t hold a candle to many of the style.

Pour is a thick looking cola brown with almost no head. Aroma is decent with some roasted malts and a whiff of hops. Flavor is a bit weaker than the flavor. Some weak chocolate and malts but the hops are what stands out. Finish is a bit weak with a touch of alcohol on the palate. Average for a Impy.

Pours dark brown (not quite opaque) with a tan head. The aroma has some coffee, toasted malts, and some hops - as well as some alcohol. The flavor starts with tingles on the tip of the tongue from the carbonation and a good bit of bitter cocoa. The taste is very bitter with some hops, some burnt flavors, and a little coffee. Some sweetness shows up in the middle of the beer. The finish is dry with a long bitter after-taste. It tastes like a very good normal-gravity stout but with more alcohol than usual. It isn’t as good, however, next to other imperial stouts.

Dark pour, but very translucent with a small tan head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. Mouthfeel is thin and oily. Chocolate taste with a lot of bittering hops. Coffee towards the middle but I’m getting overpowering citrus hops. This one is all over the place, unfortunately.
