| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 18, 2009 22oz bomber into a tulip glass. Pours quite black with ruby in reflections off the glass and a thick khaki head. There is a fair bit of alcohol in the nose as well as sweet malts and caramel, but not a whole ton of stout characteristics. The flavor is big sweet up front with hints of caramel and malt and the finish and exhale are where the roast and especially coffee finally break through, but a little late. The mouthfeel is big and thick but somehow the taste is still a bit on the light side for the style. TeamTrappist (391), jericho, New York, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Aug 11, 2009 Tap at Blind Tiger. Poured a deep rich oil black, with a thin off white head. Super sweet off the nose, molasses and chocolate. Mouthful was syrupy, and so was the flavor. Way too sweet for me, it really overpowered everything else, like the chocolate and molasses. I didn’t find this imperial, big yes,but not imperial. fidelis83 (717), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 21, 2009 Pours dark brown to black with medium mahogany highlights and a 2 finger creamy beige head that quickly fades to a very thin skim and ring. Aroma is roast, figs, black patent malt, dark fruit, a little coffee and chocolate. Flavor is roast, molasses, cardoboard, dark fruit, some char, black toasted bread, black malt and dark fruit. Burnt sugar, char and some slightly bitter hops to finish. The flavor really doesn’t stay with you very long, especially for a syrupy (impy?) stout. Palate is thick, slick and lightly carbonated with and extremely sticky feel on the lips. Not very good for the style, not bad overall, but for a bomber labeled "Imperial Stout" I expected a little more complexity and a flavor profile that lasts more than 6 seconds. ano1ridesthe19 (23), Chico, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 19, 2009 From the 22 ounce bomber into a fully chilled mega mug. Pitch black ,cant see through the mug. Nice strong classic stout at 8.2% with the full flavor of roasted malts and coffee. This 22 has had a long standing at the local bottle shop here in Chico, Ca. (home of Sierra Nevada brewing co.) This imperial stout makes Sierra’s toned down over the years stout run for its life. Homebrewerguy (284), Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 14, 2009 Not as dark and heavy as some IS’s but good nonetheless. Mild roast flavor and hopping makes it easy to drink. Would be a good introductory I.S. for the untrained palate. PilsnerPeter (2617), Flushing, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 11, 2009 Tap at the Blind Tiger: Deep brown with a ruby hue and a tan fading ring of head. Slick feel with a very fruity flavor. Sticky raisiny notes and a touch of vanilla in the nose- Not much roast in the flavor either. But it does have a touch of black malt and molasses. A bit sweet & fruity as well as lacking the roast, bitterness and malt depth of a good example. Eh. jonno (576), Brisbane, Australia
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 8, 2009 This was rally good. Like a slightly leaner Black Bear Stout from Bear Republic. Similar in profile and alcohol, with a less pronunced hoppy finish. I could drink this all day. Don’t understand the lowish rating. This was classy all the way. Looked great too, witha lovely creme head that took a while to fade away.
