Commercial Description:
Having downed his forth Imperial Stout of theay, the wild eyed charlatan from Voldvostogniaky belched and hollered for the Czarina to enter his chamber and bend herself to his will. The economy was a wreck and revolt was just around the corner. Nicky the Czar dude was off playing soldier like any pale nobleman with a hemorrphagic skin condition would. Such were the final days of the old empire. Reactionary, decadent, sputnik, stroganoff, wierd, and drunk. But even as the proletariat countryside labored under inhuman conditions and a threat of being sent to futile war in the east, they wisely took the time to slam back an Imperial Stout or two. After all, life can be a real "suka", as they say in the old country. Big, black, bourgeois, bolshoy, belligerent, buxom, and scary - this is our version of the chaotic end of an era in a bottle.

Bottle. Weak, very weak. I really do not like this beer. Pours and tastes like a weak porter.

<!-- i -->Bomber bottle.<!-- /i --> We’re moving, so my proper glassware is packed away. Kicks up a big head in the inappropriate tall lager glass. Black body just barelt shows brown highlights.after brownish head dwindles to a ring. Gotta say I kind of expected more of a stout smell, or some heady alcohol smell. A bit of the old alky does come up after all. Stout character is pretty light, though. Pleasant enough, malts tend toward dark toffee, like a barley wine. Can’t catch any hops beyond a general bitter buzz. Finishes as a nice strong beer. without excess.

Bleh, this is a bad stout. The appearance is clear dark reddish brown. Weak and thin, it’s a very bad example of the style. Cold coffee, roasted malt, soy sauce, and hints of chocolate.

22oz. bottle. Deep ruby color with a thin film of light tan head. Dark chocolate, mild sour alefruit, and hints of citric herbal hop tones in the aroma. Toasty, husky malt flavors up front, giving way to a deeper roastiness and some cocoa. Dark alefruit manifests itself in the finish with a mild herbal hop component and a pantina of residual nuttiness and mild sourness. Mouthfeel is betwixt medium and heavy, somewhat light for the style, also slightly dry.

Ah, this wasn’t incredibly memorable or distinguishable from the other bazillion impys out there, but it was good. The color was dark brown to black with brown edges and a tan head. The lacing was low and appearance was the overall weak point of this one. The aroma was of coffee most strongly, perhaps some chocolate underneath. The flavor wasn’t rich or complex, but predominantly coffee with some chocolate following, and maybe a dark fruit underneath (plums?). The mouthfeel was moderate to thin for the style, unfortunately somewhat astringent and acidic as it warmed. Competent, but not great.

From bottle. Dark, cola-like pour with ruby highlights. Fizzy tan 1-inch thick head. Aroma chocolately, roasty, and malty. Flavor of roasted coffee, dark chocolate in the middle, with a slight roasty bitterness in the end. As it warmed black licorice flavors came through. Nice malty notes meshed everything together. Thin to medium bodied Fizzy mouthfeel, lots of carbonation. easy to drink. An excellent Impy Stout.

Its beige head diminishes quickly, & isn’t nearly as tan as other imperial stouts. In addition, it’s also thicker & sweeter than most other imperial stouts.<!-- br --><!-- br --> It has a very bland, non-distinctive taste, & smells sweet, almost too sweet, like a barleywine would. On the other hand, however, it was <!-- em -->very<!-- /em --> drink-able; you’d never realize it was 8.2%.

Bottle courtesy of wohlfs. Black but somewhat transparent, more like mahogany to the light, almost no head only film. Very nice blend of chocolate and licorice in the aroma. Flavor is very watery chocolate and faint licorice, then falls completely flat. Very thin on the palate.
