| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 21, 2006 Very disappointing Imperial. Poured ok dark brown, but little aroma, and very watery. Some chocolate, and roasted notes, but ultimately lacked the oomph of an Imperial. Gave it a few extra points for the awesome story on the label. GregClow (2499), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 18, 2006 Bottle shared with tupalev, jerc, blankboy & HogTownHarry - courtesy of tupalev. Dark brown with a tiny tan head. Aroma of roasty malt, a bit earthy, with some odd notes that I can only describe as "chemically". Body is thin for the style. Flavour has some smoke and chocolate, and more of the odd notes I sensed in the aroma. Pretty disappointing, especially considering the quality of the other Lagunitas beers I’ve tried. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 16, 2006 Dark walnut brown, large tan head. Earthy clay aroma and faint chocolate. Sweet palate, earthy, some chocoalte and caramel malt. Dominant ethyl alcohol note in the finish. Thin bodied for the style. Poorly integrated. A bit of a disappointment for me. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 1, 2006 Bottle, shared with Jerc, GregClow, Hogtown Harry, and Blankboy. Obtained in a trade with Presario (thanks!). Black, small brown head, looks good. Strong chocolate malt, sweet, baker’s chocolate aroma - nice. Decent chocolate malt taste, full mouthfeel. Very dry. Unfortunately a little watery, and even gives off some weird dark fruit notes as well. Not sure where they pack the alcohol in either. A good stout that I was expecting a little more from, but still enjoyed. jerc (3947), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2006 Bottle. Black body, small khaki head. Muted washed out roast malt. Dry chalky roast, muted chocolate notes. Sweet overall character. Thinnish palate. Grows on me a bit but the lasting impression is that this is a bit thin and watery. 8% abv ??? Where? | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 18, 2006 Appearance is very thin for an Imperial. Flavor is decent, some smokiness to it. It’s a good beer in it’s own right, but can’t hang with a lot of other Imperials out there. They should market it as something else. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 12, 2006 22oz bottle via trade with Degarth - Thanks Joe! - Pours dark brown with a creamy offwhite head that stayed pretty well and laced the sides of the snifter. Aromas of light milk chocolate, coffee and some light hops. Flavor is about the same. Quite simple really and one dimensional. Palate is medium bodied.. Nothing imperial about this stout though.. Seemed to lack in malt, and flavor
