Commercial Description:
Having downed his forth Imperial Stout of theay, the wild eyed charlatan from Voldvostogniaky belched and hollered for the Czarina to enter his chamber and bend herself to his will. The economy was a wreck and revolt was just around the corner. Nicky the Czar dude was off playing soldier like any pale nobleman with a hemorrphagic skin condition would. Such were the final days of the old empire. Reactionary, decadent, sputnik, stroganoff, wierd, and drunk. But even as the proletariat countryside labored under inhuman conditions and a threat of being sent to futile war in the east, they wisely took the time to slam back an Imperial Stout or two. After all, life can be a real "suka", as they say in the old country. Big, black, bourgeois, bolshoy, belligerent, buxom, and scary - this is our version of the chaotic end of an era in a bottle.

Sweet cookie like aroma. Lots and chocolate and wine in there as well, nice. Taste is really not that sweet compared to the other imperials ive had. Nice syrupy coffee flavor. Lightly bitter. Pretty good.

22 oz bottle. Dark garnet/purple body, translucent, with a touch of lasting near-white head...elegant chocolate-port-coffee liqueur aroma, enticing and sweet...flavor follows aroma almost to the letter, moderately sweet and lightly acidic with some dark vinous qualities competing with chocolaty oiliness...body rather thin for an Impy, really this seems like a beefed-up, winey sweet stout...alcohol not noticeable really. Pleasant, a good Imperial for a hot summer day, but not terribly bold or distinctive.

Okay, but just not a heaping helping more. Not unpleasant. Expect more from an imperial stout and felt that after having tried to bombers by myself that I have a fair handle on this. Hard to get at what it is that I find lacking as I do generally tend to enjoy some subdued qualities - or just not having a stout taste like charcoal or a bag of chocolate or licorice or any other overly dominate character. Very creamy. So I guess in the long run I like it, but wish that just a teensy bit of tweaking would be done to add just a bit more.

What? I know i’ve rated this....I was just checking to see what I wrote about it. Oh well. Deep brown with foamy, transient head. Aroma has slight cherry and BIG malted milk flavor garnished with milk chocolate--good thing I love Whoppers. Sweetish, charred body with some port-like aspects. Finishes moderately sweet with surprisingly little bitterness. As, i remembered, this is less an Imperial Stout than a big sweet stout. It’s a good drinker, but not the snifter and cigar affair that many other impys are. I would take their Cappucino Stout in a heartbeat over this.

Light defying black in the glass, nice mocha cap, modest carbonation. Nice looking Impie so far. Nose is subdued, not as face smashing as most imps but the standard aromas are there figs, coffee, sweet treacle. Nice mix of malts you get lots of burnt toffee, molassass, cocoa, dried fruits and charred toast here...hops are trimmed back but that’s OK...long malty finish of sweet date cake and metal tinniness...very nice...this is a drinkable imperial...very drinkable...in fact dangerously drinkable!

Pours with a two-finger light brown head that fades slowly but doesn’t leave much lace. Deep mahogeny color. Light-medium carbonation and heavy bodied. Nose is chocolate but not strong. Starts sweet, malts are up front, finish is a roasted coffee. $5.45 for a 22 oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma

Poured out a nice deep black with a small slowly forming whispy head. The aroma is mainly of roasted malts and some chocolate. The taste is not overlly complex for an imperial stout, had notes of chocolate, cherries and roasted malts, but lacked a true character, not a terrible beer, but I wouldn’t chase out of my way to drink it again

Pours black with a thin white head. Smells of cherries alcohol and chocolate. Strong chocolate taste but nothing much else there. Incredibly short lived and bland aftertaste. OK beer though.
