Commercial Description:
Having downed his forth Imperial Stout of theay, the wild eyed charlatan from Voldvostogniaky belched and hollered for the Czarina to enter his chamber and bend herself to his will. The economy was a wreck and revolt was just around the corner. Nicky the Czar dude was off playing soldier like any pale nobleman with a hemorrphagic skin condition would. Such were the final days of the old empire. Reactionary, decadent, sputnik, stroganoff, wierd, and drunk. But even as the proletariat countryside labored under inhuman conditions and a threat of being sent to futile war in the east, they wisely took the time to slam back an Imperial Stout or two. After all, life can be a real "suka", as they say in the old country. Big, black, bourgeois, bolshoy, belligerent, buxom, and scary - this is our version of the chaotic end of an era in a bottle.

Dark dark brown with a thin frail looking cover of tan head that only leaves a spotty cover. Slight cheap chocolate aroma, some earthy tobacco and coffees then grassy hop aromas. The body is disappointingly thin and watery, tastes of some nuttiness, chocolate and a salty brine.

22oz bottle pours a dark brown with a beige frothy head that stays around. Simple nose, chocolate malt with a touch of molasses, fruit, and alcohol. Watery chocolate flavors with that molasses, coffee, nuts, and light alcohol. Pretty underwhelming. Watery in body and flavors. Nothing special that’s hard to even compare to most imperial stouts.

This stout isn’t the azz kikr that Bells Imperial is but it is far more drinkable. I suggest you try it with chocolate chip cookies just like B.I. and then make up your mind.

22oz bottle- Pours a black body with a small tan ring for a head. Aroma of cholate, toffee, roasted malt, caramel, and some smoke. Taste of the same with a nice dry finish and some with a little something on the back end. This medium to full bodied brew is pretty well balanced but a little light for an Imperial but still another quite tasty brew form Lagunitas.

22oz bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Pours a clear deep brown with a small beige head that disappeared. A very light bodied Imperial Stout with some nutty, chocolate and coffee aromas. Finish was pretty this and not very complex.

Pours a thick dark brown with a light brown head.... lots of complex flavours, kind of nutty... pretty good! Could use more hops though...

Not a terribly good imperial stout, but a pretty good stout/porter. Its a bit dry and thin on the mouth, but it does have some complex flavors to it. Nothing over the top, but subtle and there. A little smokey and nutty, a little bit roasted, light chocolate and molasses. Its pretty enjoyable, and it could almost make a good session.

Ok, I am a little torn on this one. At first, I was a little let down. The aroma is great, nice mix of chocolate and molasses and brown sugar. But, the flavor lacks the power and wallop that I expected. However, the more I sipped on this one, the more I started to enjoy it’s subtle complexity. This is more of a Stout than an Impy, it lacks the punch of an Impy, but it has a lot of nice subtle flavors in there; nuts, grains, and yeast go along with the previous mentioned flavors. Very nice stout that looks to be a little underrated.
