Commercial Description:
This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 or so miles of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentloid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. Think about it. Now stop. OK, go again, now stop. Think again, and stop. But we digress. Made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts, this redolent ale will likely float your boat, whatever planet you're on.

Bottle @ home. Pours in golden with a respectable two finger off white head. The aroma is classic IPA, slightly sweet and I can already smell Cascade hops. The flavor is spicy with a dominant pine hoppiness that is very nice. This beer is very smooth on the palate, mouthfeel is medium to light. The finish is hoppy bitterness but very clean. This is a very sturdy IPA that is a nice ensemble with all parts working very nicely together.

12oz bottle. Pours a very effervescent coppery amber with a good off white head. Aroma is light and sweet, with scents of citrusy hops, yeast, grain, and floral notes. Taste is fairly full and creamy, with a strong hoppy character (not a terribly bitter one, either) balanced out by additional hints of malt, dark fruit, and grains. A nice IPA -- good and hoppy, but balanced enough that it’s not mouth-puckeringly so.

Draught at Circa 5/9/08. A very bitter rendition of a style that probably would have mellowed a bit after 5 months on a boat crossing the equator twice. Bright beautiful light copper color, huge aroma, huge bitterness, and enough balance to make it a pleasure to drink.

12 fl. oz. bottle at my small outdoor tasting together with Kjetil B., Roger and Asgeir. Hazy copper color, moderate white head. Aroma is hops. Flavor is very balanced with nice hops and fruit.

12oz bottle. Poured a deep copper with orange and ruby highlights and a medium-thick, light tan head. The aroma is hoppy - thick with spice and pine. The flavor follows the aroma - LOTS of hop flavor. There is a distinct spiciness and funkiness from the hops, along with the usual citrus and evergreen (Simcoe hops I bet). The malt backbone is quite nice, too - there is a nice residual sweetness, almost candy-like, but not too much. There is a little fruit in and lots of bitterness by mid-palate. The bready and sugary malts stand up to the hoppy, bitter bite though. The finish is dry and quite bitter with a very subtle sweetness and lots more pine with a smaller dose of grapefruit. The mouthfeel is rich and medium-full in body with a nice, sudsy texture that indicates a perfect level of carbonation. Overall, this beer could have been absolutely phenomenal - the hop and malt balance is perfect and the aroma is great, but the flavor has a little too much funk (from too much "catty" hops - like Simcoe). It’s still good, though.

High hoppiness and citrus abound. Mildly spicy as well. About what I expected, though slightly more bitter and a little less enjoyable than expected too. Acceptable, drinkable, but nothing to go crazy about.
