MrEcted1 (144), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA Mar 11, 2008 Most Lagunitas brews are quite good, but this one I found very lacking. I’m not sure if I got a bad batch or what but this is more like an average amber rather then an IPA. The nose is almost non-existent save for a mild hop aroma. For an IPA this beer is quite weak. Like I mentioned, it’s like an amber rather then an IPA. Burnt carmel and toffee dominate over the hops. From reading other reviews I’ve come to the conclusion that either the recipe has been tinkered with because of the hop shortage going on at the time of this review, or I just got a bad brew. I’ll try again in the future and re-rate if needed. beisen (90), California, USA Mar 9, 2008 On tap. Kind of orange with an off white head. Nice strong fruity hop aroma. Also a strong hop flavor with a little bit of malt. I’ll have this again, it’s pretty good. imadeadguy (378), back in NJ!, New Jersey, USA Mar 6, 2008 Nice copper/amber pour with white head. Strong aromas of hops, pine, and citrus. Hops and citrus to taste overall. Very solid IPA from Lag. I could drink this one all night long. smith4498 (816), Miami, Florida, USA Mar 6, 2008 Pours orange with off white head. Aromas of pine and grapefruit. The flavor starts sweet and hoppy and finishes malty. A decent IPA. asedzie (453), San Francisco, California, USA Mar 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber with moderate dense beige head, some lacing. Aroma has mild pine, very slight tropical fruit - esp. mango, sticky toffee. Flavor is bombarded with hops - fruity, flora, mild pinel, lightly peppery, moderately bitter. Distinctive Lagunitas toffee malt flavor throughout. Bitterness lingers long in finish. Archetypal west coast IPA. hoplover406 (204), Crofton, Maryland, USA Mar 1, 2008 TAP@ Maxies? in Ithica. I like this IPA. It’s tasty and pretty true to style. Lagunitas beer has a distinctive taste to it somewhat like DFH. It’s one of those breweries where you could recognize most of their beers if you were blindfolded. Dogfish Head is like that for me too. Does that make sense?? Does anybody else feel that way about any beers? Anyways, this is a good IPA that is easily found here in NY. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Feb 28, 2008 Bottle. Small ivory fizzy head that mostly diminished, spotty amount of lacing, mostly transparent, and visible carbonation. Nose was mildly malty, sweet, and citrus hops. Flavor was malty, some caramel, hoppy but not overly so, citrus-grapefruit. Fairly smooth mouthfeel and light-mediumm body. A nicely balanced IPA and one that I enjoyed because it was not over-the-top hops since I am not a hophead. Would drink this one in the future and worthy of a try. Speedle (262), Mid-Atlantic (Tour 2007-2008), Virginia, USA Feb 25, 2008 amber pour .... sweet smell of hops ... grapefruit and citrus .... bitter start with sweet in the middle followed by a bitter finish ... best of both worlds sweet grapefruit and pine resin .... hops are not overpowering .... nice and smooth ... drinkability is high for this one .... i’m drinking this one at about 60 deg F ... probably a little better at 45-50 ..... I love this brewery
