smoosh (523), New Albany, Indiana, USA Sep 12, 2007 Bottle - deep, dark golden body with a beige head and tons of floaties. A nose full of grassy hops. Nice grassy hops in the flavor, as well, with balancing malt. Good, strong carbonation. A very good IPA. krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA Sep 12, 2007 bright orange ale with some brown tones. frothy white head rises and falls quickly. nose is mostly swee malts. faint hint of hop pine is also noted. unfiltered hop particles can be seen floating throughout. a well balanced IPA that is predominately malty. citric hops a re strong but kept in check. mild piney finish rounds it out. a solid easy drinking IPA. glennmastrange (807), hobe sound, Florida, USA Sep 7, 2007 Bottle. The aroma of this beer is what one should expect from an IPA, bordering on DIPA characteristics. Moderate malt aromas of roasted and caramel, heavy hop smells of pine and orange peel and light notes of dough and beef broth for the yeast with date, vanilla and cherry in the background. Head is white, frothy/creamy, mostly diminising with excellent lacing. Color is a sparkling clear amber/orange. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic then the extra long finish is lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, between watery and oily with a carbonation between lively and fizzy. I think this beer rivals the top IPAs available in my area. brigg (213), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 6, 2007 (bottle) Hazy orange with lots(!) of big "floaties" and an off-white head. Faint aroma of grass, hops, and sweet malt. Very hoppy flavor but with a nice malt sweetness to balance it up front. Finishes bitter. Medium body. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Sep 2, 2007 12 oz bottle. Clear amber with a big off white head. Nice foamy lace. Nose is grassy and grapefruit citrus, light pine. Mild sweet maltiness behind the hoppy wall of flavor - lots of citrus and grass. Pine appears toward the end. Lasting bitter finish. A nice drinker - very good! DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Sep 2, 2007 Aroma of orange and malt, golden/orange, a small custard head. Flavour of orange, some malt. Light bodied, bitter, good. beerme420 (50), Corona, California, USA Aug 28, 2007 ehh....not a big fan of this IPA. Color and aroma typical of IPAs. The taste was horrible. Felt very watered down. Overall a mediocre IPA Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Aug 28, 2007 Hazy pour with some milky bubbles that cling to the edges and occupy a few partial, random spaces on the surface. Orange, glowing. Aroma suggests moss, scotch oak, wildflowers, and blonde brownie. With a lacing of butterscotch. A faint hint of strawberries with cream. Tastes more of a mild soap than a crushing weight of bitterness. Only minor undercurrents of resinous syrups and crushed flowers. Bitter citrus rind leaps out a little, with a slighter hint of red pepper and grapefruit. It packs some intensity, but it still retains that cleaning product polish that cripples the impact. Alcohol resonates with a dark, hollow tone at the finish. Bitterness is slow to finally arrive after swallowing. Despite its qualities this is easy to recognize as California to the core, though a morose, cold-weather example.
