Not the most bitter IPA (45 IBU’s) but great character and complexity (65 malts/43 hops). Crisp refreshing citric bitterness noticeable throughout forcing its way through in a long lingering finish. Malts are sensational without being overwhelming. Mild biscuity pale ale character turns into a fruit juice cocktail of pineappple, peach nectar and orange juice. Citric grapefruit in the finish although not strong for the style. Touch of spice briefly finishes things off before relaxing into the mellow malts and citric aftertaste. Proof that IPA’s can be great without bringing tears to your eyes. achtungpv (129), Austin, Texas, USA

I had it in a bottle, cold, and accompanied by spicy food (a perfect balance to the citrus, sweet and bitterness of IPAs).
I found it to be similar in malt sweetness and hop bitterness to Boulder Brewing Co.’s Mojo IPA, and Sierra Nevadas’ excellent Fresh Hop Harvest Ale.
It has a nice piney and citrusy hop aroma. A distinct yet subtle maltines, followed by a not-to-harsh fresh hop bitterness and grapefruitiness. It finishes with a sweet + bitter taste that wow’ed me. One of my TOP 10 for sure (and I’ve tried hundreds). KnutAlbert (3217), Oslo, Norway

Lovely golden beer with rocky head. Aroamtic and bitter hops, fruit, pines, the works. Full sweet body underneath. rmussman (906), California, USA

Its very nice, pours smooth and dark brown with a nice thick head. Mouthfeel is excellent and prepares you for great flavoring based on good bitters and spices. Highly recommended. groovinhigh (170), Asheville, North Carolina, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 5, 2001 I had this one right after Speakeasy’s Big Daddy IPA. This is definitely not as dry and seems to tilt more towards the British style with hints of malty biscuit in the aroma and flavour. It is also a bit more full bodied and a little darker than the Big Daddy. Good hop flavour in the middle with a smooth, sweet malt finish.
