| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2004 a good lappy head lives comfortably and prospers atop this beer, foam the color of raw sugar, and the sagging dots of lace make endless exclamation points that cannot help but excite the taster. the beer itself is like dried corn or the bright but aged tiger-teak orange of a violin top. a nice aroma dances about, being loquacious about toffee and lumber and orange blossom. the hops are delicate, like eau de hop-bud in a perfumatic spritz for the refined lady’s bath, a smell of spring greenery, and a gob of caramel sizzling in butter. nice floral hops in the flavor have both a fruity tang and a bitterness that lingers like sucking on a trumpet valve, vying with lightly sweet doughnut malts. 666seth (219), California, USA

Nice hoppy flavor but could be more. Malts are not well balanced against the hops. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 3, 2005 Pours with a big but short lived head. Light yellow with a slight haze. Sweet aroma, fresh hops of a NW variety. Refined candied malt flavor, balanced with big floral, estery hops. Finish is drying, crisp. Round earthiness. Very good. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 29, 2005 12 oz bottle. Pours out clear amber, with a fluffy, two finger tan head that lasts and lasts. When it finaly does start to recede, it leaves rings of sticky lace.
Aroma is sweet malt up front, with some grapefruit and orange oil as it warms.
Flavor is lightly malty, around some citrusy hops.
Finish is mildly bitter.
Nicely balanced, will definately buy again. BBB63 (4238), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2003 On tap in Houston: Could not rate appearance since the lights were turned down for frickin low, good head though. The aroma was that of grapefruit, melons, toasted malts, and piney hops. Crisp piney taste, but well balanced IMO. Medium-bodied with a lively mouthfeel. A sure fired winner this beer is. carboloader (321), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 30, 2003 Updated: Jun 28, 2008Pours reddish/copper. Small sudsy head, dissipates quickly. Slight carbonation. Aroma of Cascade hops and something sweet. Flavor is hops then immediate and long bitter finish that lasts forever. Some grapefruit in there. I didn’t rate this as highly the first time, but now it has become one of my favorite daily drinkers. (And, yes, I’m an IPA fan). It’s not over the top like some, but I keep coming back to it repeatedly. BeerandBlues2 (3225), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2006 12-oz. bottle from Naven. Pours a slightly cloudy copper with a medium off-white foamy head that diminishes some to leave just enough for some good sticky lacing. Aroma is sweet floral and fruity hops, pine notes however non-offensive, and a slight caramel toasted malt nose. Medium bitterness, acidity and sweetness, all in all very well balanced hops and malts, some hint of yeast hanging out, nothing hits you too harsh, finish is quite clean, especially for an IPA. Light bodied and smooth, clean palate.
