Piney, resiny aroma.
Bitterness is assertive at the start and becomes annoyingly out of balance by the time you reach the finish.
Tthin bodied.
Disappointing.

There is a great hop aroma, very fruity, grapefruit and bitter oranges over all. Very good toffee flavor, less sweet than my liking, maybe just a bit drier than this beer deserves, at the end; powerful hopping, giving both a fruity and resiny touch, but never overwhelming. Powerful final, but if anything, less than expected, and shorter. After one year, it seems that some corners have softened, the flavors are well mixed together, and everything is more balanced.
2007-11-02, Papsoe Blind Tasting, 9-3-7-4-16=39 Hazy golden color. Wonderful hoppy aroma, a bit resiny and greatly fruity: grapefruit, sweet oranges, peach... Even a touch of cookies. The body is not too strong, almost dry; there is a quite strong toffee flavor, very strong bitterness with quite strong resins and bitter oranges, mango. Very good, but unbalanced between aroma and flavor. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2007 Golden, huge frothy head. Aroma decent balance of pine and citrus, little resin, aint backbone. Flavor much the same up front, through the middle gets some backbone for a second, fades quickly. Lingering resinous pine aftertaste. Decent overall, sessionable I guess, just a little more body would improve this quite a bit. DragonsHead (137), Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, USA

Good beer overall. Just not a great IPA. I guess I’m just a bit picky. mtdshn (174), Moline, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2007 Bomber. Pours a clear amber gold with a ton of head that lasts throughout. Aromas of bitter lemon, some slight sourdough notes, some slight flowery and sweet characteristics as well. Taste is pretty smooth with predominately malt coming forward, which I found interesting for an IPA. There’s a definite hop characteristic to it which gives it a crisp and clean finish, but what I like about this one so much is that’s it’s not too intense in the hop department. There are some slight glue-like notes in the end, but nothing detracting. Quite a nice job on this one! chronictonic (403), Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma was citrus fruit and floral, light and not overpowering. Flavor was really citrusy pineapple and grapefruit. I’d guess lots of Simcoe hops in this one. Mild light grain flavor, but those citrusy hops where what this beer was about. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
