Besides that, this was still a very good beer. Pours to a rich orange-red color with thick off-white head that lingers thru the entire glass and leaves excellent lacing. Nose of tart citrusy grapefruit hops hits you immediately upon opening. The mouthfeel is full, tingly and only slightly bitter, leading to a taste that accentuates the grapefruit hop aroma. As the beer warms, the 7.8% abv makes itself slightly known, serving only to add to the flavor.
This all leads to a nice, long, slightly dry, slightly bitter finish, with just the right hint of alcohol.
Another fine offering from Lagunitas. eaglefan538 (2399), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

The pour was amber colored, nice generous initial slighty tan colored off-white head. Aroma was citrus and pine hops, full malty base. The flavor followed suit, firm bitterness to the finish, a little bit fruity base, pretty nice. Not a standout among other very good IPAs, but this thing was clearly above average. Mouthfeel was full, almost with a grainy type texture. Good stuff. craftbeerdesign (761), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 9, 2007 bomber. a very good IPA... extremely hoppy, especially on the nose. aromas of pine, citrus and plenty of hops. pours a deep golden with a generous white head, which becomes a nice lacing. medium body, average carbonation. It could be a bit stronger with a bigger finish... that is the one area I feel that this one could improve on. At times it seems to kind of die in the finish. 5000 (2600), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2007 Bottle: Golden in color, quite fiery, translucent, large rocky white head, lively carbonation, web like lacing.   Assertive hop
nose, a little green, otherwise very soft floral and citrus hints.   Moderate malt base, but a fairly strong hop presense.   Pale
citrus rind and green hops on the tongue.   Not biting, nor astringent, with a soft malt base.   Smooth, definitely on the hop vs.
malt side.   Had the hops been a bit more biting, had the citrus rind been more astringent, I would say this one should be maltier.
As is, its a nice IPA.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Had there been more malts I would think it would be a bit heavier,
and perhaps a bit more enjoyable.   Soft IPA, aromatic, but without a huge bite.   Enjoyable.

It has just enough hops to satisfy my tastebuds. Strong citrusy note/grapefruit. The aroma is all hops and citrusy. There are a small amount of malts here but not enough to speak of. Awesome. Side Note- The Mothers still rock!! Dhrjericho (66), Boise, Idaho, USA

Fresh, hoppy aroma of pine needles and peaches. Medium-bodied and extremely dry with a rather downplayed malt base. The bitterness is very distinct but fresh, fruity and floral. 021107 glennmastrange (862), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Nov 6, 2007 Updated: Nov 17, 2007Bottle. Moderate malt notes of roasted and caramel, heavy hops of spruce, resin and orange, light yeast of soap, with date, pepper and an undefinable fruitiness. Head is small, white, wispy and bubbly with excellent crisscross lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is a hazy amber. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic then the long finish is moderately acidic and heavily bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation, and finishes nicely dry. The massive hop profile was perfect in my opinion. The appearance and palate said IPA, but the aroma and flavor were definitely DIPA. A hophead’s dream.
