Mild grapefruit aroma coupled with some nutty malt. The aroma is firm but not overly bitter or pungent. Clear light copper color with a constant 1" thick head and ample lacing. Medium body and moderately bitter on the palate. Easy finish and nicely drinkable, a rather calm brew from Lagunitas. I expected a hop bomb, but this IPA has a little more character than only hops. There’s a faint caramel malt aspect, which is a touch nutty along with a dry cracker flavor. Crisp and airy with a lighter body. Grapefruit and some lemon, the hop additions are a great balance to the delicate malt. Well received, pretty easy going. LinusStick (1852), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

My only complaint is there is not much malt to balance it out. As a hop head I don’t mind, but as a rater, an IPA should have some malt profile. Anyway, nice aroma. Citrus mostly, with a hint of pine. Pour was good medium gold with a suprising 2 finger white head. Taste was all hops. A little thin, but the hops ride it out. Dry finish with a bit of a bite. Not bad. tendency (7), USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Huge hop bite. like others have said: pine needles, grapefruit, and, dare i say, a bitterness that’s grounded in the hope and faith that one can only find in the west..
very, very good beer..like most beers from lagunitas brewing the specialty brews tend to be MUCH better than the unlimited releases. definitely the case here. luv2brew (179), Chesterfield, Virginia, USA

Pours a deep gold with a nice fluffy head that lasts a while. This one doesn’t has a lot of malty sweetness, but its all about the hops. Lot of bitterness in this one, and its real good. I tell you this is much better than the Lag IPA. wetherel (1641), Encinitas, California, USA

Light orange-yellow color. Small bubble head. Nice grapefruit hops bitterness. A tiny amount of sour. Nice and easy to drink. HopBackDoc (395), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Pours a golden/straw color with a thin head. Aroma is piney hops with a peach/apricot bouquet, very interesting. Flavor was a blend of piney and citrus hops, with a little malt in there to sweeten it a bit. A light bodied IPA with a bitter finish. Any beer with Frank Zappa on the label is worthy of drinking. chef201atc (249), Weatherford, Texas, USA

Nice pungent piney hop aroma! Very fresh smelling. Medium to light bodied, smooth mouthfeel, light carbonation. Strong piney hop presence in the flavor, lots of hop bitterness. Probably the best offering from Lagunitas in some time. garthicus (1314), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
