Gromit (449), Port Orchard, Washington, USA Oct 20, 2007 First rating in a long time... I’m not sure why this one called to me. Anyway, back to the review.
Aroma is *all* hops. Nice, citric hops. Did I mention hops? Yeah, so there’s hops in there. Damn nice hops.
Appearance is a pale amber with a light head, but it did leave a nice lace down the glass.
Flavor is definitely high-alpha hops, I’m thinking Cascade. I’m going to cherish this as it appears it’s gonna be a while before breweries make one-offs like this again, sadly. It loses points simply because it needs a little more balance; it lacks something sweet to bring it back.
Palate is crisp and on for the style. Overall, it’s just a bit one-dimensional, stated by a certifiable hop-head. And I gotta say, you never sense the high-alcohol content. Until, that is, the beer is gone.
pnista (888), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Aug 12, 2008 Clear golden yellow with a lighter looser white head, thinner, fading fairly fast. Light malt over slightly past prime juicy hops. Guava and papaya with some aspirin. Clear though, no skunk. Creamy to fizzy light but not watery body. Past prime hops are a bit stronger in the flavor. Light malt has some toast. Not a ton of depth. Fruity hops. Toasty astringent finish. darn1207 (255), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 bomber. orange-ish brown pour with a medium tan head that disappears pretty quick - and a fair bit of lacing. a somewhat muted grassy hop aroma. sweet malt, caramel and tropical fruit taste. really good texture - but leaves me hanging a little with on the finish - probably wanting some more bitter bite. Good, but not great for my tastes. PolakPorter (74), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 30, 2008 An interesting brew. While drinking this, I thought it must be a in imperial IPA. I was a little shocked to see it wasn’t. Anyways, talk about fruity! Wow! It has a unique sweetness that is in a league of its own. Feels great going down and has a great lingering aftertaste. If you’re in the mood for a great sweet IPA with minimum bitterness, go check it out (if you can still find it). Jwasciuk (181), Greenville, Michigan, USA Jul 28, 2008 pours sparkling medium yellow with a large white head. Aroma is lightly malty, heavily hopp of mainly grapefruit. Flavor starts balanced twords sewwt mainly, with grapefruit hop flavor dominating, finishes much the same, very one dimensional. light to med bodied, and watery daknole (697), Plantation, Florida, USA Jul 28, 2008 Thanks acknud...this beer is smooth and really damn good. Pours a golden color wtih a thin but foamy white head. Aroma is hoppy but also ciderish. Flavor is malty, almost like a boddingtons with a great hop bite. A little more hops and this would be world class!!!
