Commercial Description:
From the first day of the first mash of the first recipe in the first space to this oasis 13 years on the road; We have worked hard to walk in the footsteps of our hero brewers. The Esteemed brewer of California's best Pale Ale, the Noble Brewer of the planet's only legal Steam Beer, and Oregon's Rebel Brewer from Newport. Thirteen years down the road, we have found our own voice as brewers but our admiration for the Great Ones has not dimmed one bit. If we walked well down the hero's path ourselves, perhaps we too have been an inspiration for others. Beer is a Bronze Age business and we feel honored to have left our footprints on its path into history, at the same time leaving our flavors on your buds. Thanks for your trust over the years and we hope you enjoy this specially brewed Hi-Gravity Auburn offering. Beer Speaks. People Mumble! O.G. 1.085 76.92 IBU

Pours a copper red with a 1-2 creamy yellow head. The nose is malty, has some caramel, a tad old, piney hops, alcohol, sweet, very lightly phenolic. The flavor is malty, a tad aged, sweet, piney hops, alcohol, strong alcohol, light British influence. The palate is kind of dry with a mild hop bite.

Bomber for $3.99. Pours an amber-brown with a medium head. Aroma is intense of caramel malt, toasted caramel, dark (overripe) fruit, and bubble gum. Palate is full-bodied, medium-thick, and featuring moderate carbonation. I tasted apricot, caramel, ripe strawberry, other candied fruits and a dominant malt character. I liked the flavors of this brew, but Lucky 13 does little to erase my notion that Lagunitas’ brews all manage to taste similar. Heavy on the malt, a ton of underlying hops, and ripe fruit notes to boot. I’ll knock it point in “overall”, but can’t deny the decency of Lucky 13.

Draught @ Über Tavern, Seattle. Pours a clear amber color with a small white head. Has a malty hoppy grapefruit aroma. Malty hoppy bitter flavor with hints of grapefruit. Has a malty hoppy bitter finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

The malt is extremely malty. Good bitter presence. The sweetness is somehow independent of the malt if such a thing is possible. Lagunitas hides that abv really well. Not quite a red IPA but a great combo of malt and hop. Slightly too bitter finish.

Pours a big white head with a dark caramel body. Piney hop aroma and some nice sweet caramel malts. The flavor follows just like the aroma here and is quite tasty. It is lacking in some nice notes of complexity, but overall is a really sold beer.

Bottle 650 ml
Appearance: Thinly hazed amber/copper ale with mid oily , creamy head. 3+.
Nose: Strong, citric hop aroma. Sweet rich filling malts with bonding alcohol at back. 7+.
Flavor/Palate : Medium full bodied. Good west coast hop feel. Well carried across its spectrum. Bitterness is the main theme. Rich , big and alcohol potent. Quiet good.

Found a bottle of this on sale up at the local liquor shop and glad I did. Opened the bottle and the piney hops aroma really started to pour out. Pours in the glass a great red color and produced a GREAT head that really lasted most of the drink. Aroma is very strong on the pine scent but has a very good caramel malt addition as well. Flavor is great! The pine and caramel meld great with some citrus acidity at the end. Can definitely taste some Fuggles hops in there. Great lacing on the glass and very little alcohol influence due to the perfect amount of hops to hide it. Truely a great beer that I will have to stock up and age em a bit. Really wish I had two more here at home!

This might be the best Lagunitas beer to date. Seems more IPA like than a strong ale, but whatever. Light orange color with moderate head and lacing. Caramel malt. Just the right balance of sweetness to compensate for the generous citrus and pine bittering hops. Really enjoyable.
