Commercial Description:
From the first day of the first mash of the first recipe in the first space to this oasis 13 years on the road; We have worked hard to walk in the footsteps of our hero brewers. The Esteemed brewer of California's best Pale Ale, the Noble Brewer of the planet's only legal Steam Beer, and Oregon's Rebel Brewer from Newport. Thirteen years down the road, we have found our own voice as brewers but our admiration for the Great Ones has not dimmed one bit. If we walked well down the hero's path ourselves, perhaps we too have been an inspiration for others. Beer is a Bronze Age business and we feel honored to have left our footprints on its path into history, at the same time leaving our flavors on your buds. Thanks for your trust over the years and we hope you enjoy this specially brewed Hi-Gravity Auburn offering. Beer Speaks. People Mumble! O.G. 1.085 76.92 IBU

Pint bottle from Total Wine. Pours a copper-red color with a small centimeter of tan head. Aroma is effervescent with green apple, metal, subtle yeast, and piney hops. Same flavors with toast, biscuits, and subtle caramel. High carbonation and medium/full body. Decent beer, very generic.

22 oz. bottle on 6/15/08. Pours out a clear copper with big, rocky, beige head and a stiff, sticky lace. Fresh hoppy aroma - citrus, spice, and some herbal notes, supported by a some toffee and caramel.

Medium body and soft carbonation, mildly resinous, dry palate. A slowly building spicy bitterness with some grapefruit character overtakes a burnt caramel and dark fruity sweeetness.

On tap at The Red in Santa Cruz. Poured into a nonic. Dark amber with a tan 1-finger head. Lots of sticky lace and great retention. Aromas of brown sugar and caramel and a mondo dose of grapefruity hops. Flavor runs the gamut, from sticky malt sweetness to big bitter C hops to a unifying, warming finish. Lively carbonation, medium-full body, a touch of booziness.

Draught at the WBF in Raleigh. Pours copper, with an off-white head. Nose is very hoppy, with grain, citrus, and a little malt. Flavor is similar, and tasty.

Clear medium amber, smallish beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel with a cookie not, citrusy. Moderately sweet, caramel & cookies, piney citrus, moderate-dry finish. Medium body with a resiny feel. Overall a well balanced beer, enjoyable to drink but not at the top of the class.

This IPA pours a clear beautiful copper color which retains a creamy light brown sugar head that sticks around a little bit. The head gives off a wonderful aroma of hops. Very flowery, not so much citrusy. I like flowery. Like I’m smelling a glass full of fresh wet hops. The flaovr is very hoppy, but not too bitter, (as in harsh). The IBUs are vey high but it’s good and smooth. Smooth on my palate. A beautiful ale. Thanks Lagunitas. May the Lord bless the hop harvest.

Big bottle. Rich copper amber quick fading head in the goblet glass I poured. A decent amount of bubbles floating to the top. Noble appearance due to the deep color. Malt aroma and a heavy smell of figs plums and a hint of caramel among others, a varied complex smell. Flavor reminds me of a Scottish heavy - malty and a mature bitter. The fruit aroma doesn not enter strongly in the flavor. The palate is heavier than many ales but can be expected for a high gravity beer. Speaking of hihg gravity, this beer handles the high alcohol well. Overall its a good American replication of a Scottish wee heavy.
