Commercial Description:
From the first day of the first mash of the first recipe in the first space to this oasis 13 years on the road; We have worked hard to walk in the footsteps of our hero brewers. The Esteemed brewer of California's best Pale Ale, the Noble Brewer of the planet's only legal Steam Beer, and Oregon's Rebel Brewer from Newport. Thirteen years down the road, we have found our own voice as brewers but our admiration for the Great Ones has not dimmed one bit. If we walked well down the hero's path ourselves, perhaps we too have been an inspiration for others. Beer is a Bronze Age business and we feel honored to have left our footprints on its path into history, at the same time leaving our flavors on your buds. Thanks for your trust over the years and we hope you enjoy this specially brewed Hi-Gravity Auburn offering. Beer Speaks. People Mumble! O.G. 1.085 76.92 IBU

well now, quite the smooth kicker of an ale! slightly spicy; it does have a slight vegetable ale thing going on, but it’s good regardless.

22 oz bottle - Pours a crystal clear deep copper/amber hue with smallish off white head. Aroma is full of chewy kilned malts, toasted caramel, oak, fair amount of herbal hops, faint citrusy notes and touch of apricot. Flavor is malty, chewy, medium caramel, hint of lemon and apricot. Palate is nicely thick, and finish is firmly bitter. Overall a very nice brew.

Meh. A bit hoppier than I wanted for a red ale, however, as Lagunitas does specify, it’s big, and it being a CA version, hops, to the extreme, are required. Pours a orange-tinged red/copper. Full bready hop head (about 1 inch, given a slow pour). The malt and creaminess does come through well, a little chewy though. Just a bit bitter (duh!), and poured with a hint of orange blossoms on the nose. (Bottle Pour 5/17/2008)

Dark amber with medium sized off white head. Aroma is spicey with lots of cinnamon and some citrusy hops. Flavour is rich with a funny celery flavour. Nice thick palate and finishes strong with a nice bitterness. Good stuff.

Smells of cinnamon, carmel, sticky resiny herbal and citrus hops, stanky cantalope. Has an acidic, solvent like alchohol aroma. Tangy + invigorating palate. Sticky + mouthnumbingly astringent texture Sweet, earthy + spicy flavor, like the aroma. Solid citrus hops with notes of candy and sweet melon. Decent carmel + roasted rye malts for balance to this hops-infused Red. Gimme more.

Brought back from Bruisin Ales. Another Lagunitas solid beer. An American Strong that reminds me of the Imperial Red. Typical massive hops. Wonderful.

22 oz bomber purchased at Ocean Wine & Spirits. Pours a clear orange with a super huge foamy whiteish head. Nicely balanced aroma with lots of citrus hops, caramel, and pineapple notes coming through. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a smooth finsih. Flavor of caramel, grapefruit and citrusy hops. Wow, wasn’t expecting much but what a nice suprise, very balanced and smooth. Reiminds me of dating an average looking gymnast, looks okay but tons of good stuff hidden beneath.

I’m a huge fan of Lagunitas beers, and this one does not disappoint. has a nice pine flavor and some nice hoppyness with a slight caramel after tone. It’s an absolutely fabulous beer.
