| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 21, 2008 For an american strong ale, nothing is overpowering here, not a hop bomb, chocolate blast, or cup of coffee. Just bland balance. Which is nice surprise. Chocolate malt, spice, alcohol well hidden. Drinkable for sho FortyFirkins (27), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 18, 2008 Bomber. Poured a very dark amber with a smallish beige head. Smelled of bread and molasses, which was balanced for the most part on tasting by the hoppy bitterness of the beer. Finish is on the bitter side. A decent beer for me, if maybe a little lacking in complexity. elihapa (1069), Honolulu, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 18, 2008 2/22/08 notes: 24oz bottle. Pours a dark amber, surprisingly opaque. First sip yielded strong flavors of malt, caramel and a little sugar: a creamy sweet theme. As the flavor settles (and/or the brew warms!), a more bitter hoppy flavor kicks in which coats the tongue similar to Rogue’s Am. Amber. Might be a hint of coffee flavor? Delicious beer, but I agree, it could be more exciting and unique for Lagunitas. Bosco (65), Boca Raton, Florida, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 15, 2008 Pours a two finger cream head that fades slowly, leaving a good lace. Nice deep amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Maybe a caramel nose. Flavor has some caramel and raisins with some hops/bitterness at finish. Reminds me of a double IPA $5.45 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma. craftbeerdesign (766), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 14, 2008 bomber. pours a brown with a 1/4" tan head... nice malty aroma, but nothing spectacular... overall a wonderful palate, very soft and inviting. gets much more dynamic as the beer warms. a bit of spice on the tip and extremely smooth on the top and sides. a lingering bitter finish sneaks it’s way through. overall a very nice beer. jcwattsrugger (5581), Florida and, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 14, 2008 22oz bottle-pours a rich retaining tan head and amber/red color. Aroma is sweet medium malt-caramel, husky/roasty/nutty, secondary earthy/pine hops. Taste is medium malt-caramel, husky/roasty/nutty, secondary bitter earthy/pine hops that offsets much of the malt sweetness. A bit rough, but nice “American Brown Ale”. Good carbonation. Finishes semi dry. A good beer. Near full body.
