Bottle. Reddish body, small tan head, malty nose. Sweet, malty, a bit cloying. Did not finish.

Large head, dark amber color. on the sweet side, light hops, caramel. Abit chewy, enjoyable, but not my favorite brew from Lagunitas.

Moderately dark mahogany color with nice frothy head. Rich malty aroma. Flavor is sweet caramelly malt with a fair amount of citrusy hops. Finishes a bit too bitter and slightly astringent. Disappointing.

22-oz bottle. Pours deep mahogany with a small, fizzy, off-white head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, cookie, caramel), light hops (grass), average yeast (dough, sweat) with notes of plum and pear. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. A rather bland and uninteresting beer. Too bad the Zappa name is one this one.

Big Bottle. Dark red-amber pour with a medium, tan, sudsy head. Lacing doesn’t last. Aromas of malt, parsnips, citrus, and EtOH. Pleasent malty caramel and salty hops. Decent beer - although my rating turned out lower than average, I thought this beer was quite drinkable and I’ll probably buy it again. Definitely not Kill Ugly Radio, but I don’t think it’s meant to be.

Bottle pours a rich amber with a thin tan head. Sweet aroma with hints of vanilla and raisin. Sweet flavor of dried fruits and spices.

Bottle: Pours a dark amber with a large, creamy sandy head. Nice lacing. Aroma is typical Lagunitas sweet and assertive hops with caramel and citrus. Flavor is subdued on the hops, but plentiful with caramel and citrus. A little bit of roastiness. Doesn’t pack as much of a hop presence as I had hoped for.

22oz bomber. Pours a deep, clear, chestnut-brown with amber and red highlights. The beers with a medium-sized tan head that consists of very fine bubbles. The head fades to a thin ring, but never disappears completely. The aroma is very malt-forward. There are dark fruit and cake in there, along with some toffee and chocolate. The flavor starts sweet and malty with some graininess. There are some flavors of dry cocoa and dried fruits. The malt flavor is quite toasted with a good level of melanoidins. By mid-palate a subtle bitterness and dryness supplants the big malt flavor. The finish is dry with flavors of cocoa powder and ethanol. The mouthfeel is medium in body with a light carbonation that adds a very creamy quality to the texture. Overall, a decent, big, brown ale - though much less hoppy than some of my Lagunitas favorites...
