| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Pours a clear, dark amber brown with a one-finger head that recedes to a good ring and some swirl in the middle.
The aroma is slightly hoppy up front but it’s the caramel malts that are more dominant with hints of toffee.
The taste is similar to the nose and leans a little bit toward a very light scotch ale. It’s big on caramel malts with toffee and butterscotch. The hops are no more than an afterthought at this point.
The mouthfeel is smooth was decent carbonation and a little more sticky than a typical brown ale.
This is an interesting and unique brown ale with a little bit of hops and a little bit of scotch ale characteristics. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 16, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Fat caramel sweetness is spiced with resinous hops, a union developing strawberry-like fruitiness for a bold and quite jazzy strong ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A crown of foam tops the clear coppery-red.
-The body is quite plump, but the carbonation is effervescent enough to make this an enjoyable sipper.
-This might be a fun beer, but the flavor profile is not very distinctive.
-The long, sweet finish recalls maple syrup at times.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 1, 2008 Had this on tap at Bierra Paradiso in DC! This beer pours a dark clear mahogony with larger mostly small bubble head of darker off white. The aroma is big and malty with notes of brown sugar, maple syrup, and a slight hop tinge. The flavor is fantastic with a full bodied brown ale flavor of brown sugar and molasses with a great dry hopped character. Awesome! aaaaaaaaaah (63), Warren, Michigan, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 22, 2008 Pint bottle poured into glasses. Aroma has a roasted malt character and a heavy flowery orange hop character. Raisin, licorice and red wine also smelt along with a heavy alcohol smell. Initial flavor is creamy sweet mild roasted malt and it finishes slightly bitter with a smooth transition into mellow hops. A moderate alcohol taste as well. Creamy texture with a medium body. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Not as good as most Lagunitas I’ve tried, but not bad at all. A nice sleeper type beer. Pours an almost purple-orange color with a frothy head. Aroma is yeast and booze, with touches of candy and barley. Flavor is all this, with the addition of malt, dark fruits, and just a hint of hop. Has a nice sugary sweetness to it that, while great in the beer, leaves a slightly stickiness in the aftertaste. A nice warmer on a cold evening. yobdoog (1502), Woodridge NY, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2008 Aroma is a bit weak. A little malts and some smoke and and sweetness on taste. A little bit of hops balance it out. A bot watery and not that complex. GodOfThunder (878), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 15, 2008 Comes out a dark amber color with a sticky white head. Smells of brown sugar, caramel, malt and bread. Lots of candy smells. The taste is malty, but not overly roasted. It is a sweet malt. After it goes down, wait about 30 seconds and the bitterness from the hops hits. A little bit of a delay. I was surprised I liked this as much as I did.
