Exhuberant creamy head, which gradually disappears, rich lacing, pleasant dark color, nose inviiting, but not floral, rather more hop than malt, and not very complex which is a disapointment. The mouth feel is wonderful.

bottle from the Captain, thanks Mark! very nice beer. Nice brown color with nice off white head. Smelled of yeast and reminded me of the way most Belgian ales smell. very tart taste and the 7.2 %abv is noticeable but it won’t knock you out. It’s bitter and it almost hints on full body taste.

Pours clear deep mahogany with a fleeting off-white head. Light caramel aroma. The flavor follows the aroma closely with a touch of bitterness towards the finish. One-dimensional and a bit boring but there are no real flavor flaws or detractors here.

Bottle at Chris_O’s 19th April 2008 tasting. Brown with a cream coloured head. The rich, complex malt aroma brings to mind JW Lees Harvest Ale. Very smooth on the tongue with a strong sweet malty flavour, but a little short on the finish. Not bad, but could do with a little more complexity.

220z bomber. Pours a deep amber with a small head and good lacing. Nose is redolent of malt, vanilla and caramel. Malt dominates the taste, but not too strongly. There is room for caramel and vanilla, and there is a nice touch of hops. Mouthfeel is opulent. Aftertaste is smooth with the malt and hops lingering. I’m am IPA guy, but this is a keeper.

Bottled at Papsoes Blind tasting 19th. June 2008 no 14: Amber coloured. Unclear. Light brown head. Dark fruits, spice, some barrelnotes and light liqourice in the aroma. Flavour of herbs, fruits, liqourice, spice and some sweetness. Medium to full bodied. Dry. Has a vanillaish, light bitter and vaguely sweet end. Some barrel notes as well. Nice.

Malty aroma and pours a dark amber color. Sweet caramel and, as expected malty flavor is pronounced. I bought for the label, "Frank Zappa" The relatively high alcohol is well hidden. Nice brew, but a little to malty for me.

Sweet roasted malt aroma. Cola amber color. Sweet roasted caramel malt with a light bitter duration. Fairly rich palate with good carbonation. Pretty good overall.
