SDbruboy (1809), San Diego, California, USA May 13, 2008 22 oz bottle, from BevMo LaJolla. Pours a deep chestnut color with clear reddish highlights when held to light and a moderate beige head. Aroma is roasty and gruity, molasses and raspberry notes, coffee and floral hops. Roasty, coffee flavors, just ripe prune, florals and light spice, woody notes, dandelion milk, nice roasty bitter finish. Medium body and pleasant carbonation.
benwa420 (30), Aspen, Colorado, USA Jul 16, 2008 out the bottle. Pours semi dark amber color with a thin white hesd. A little spice to th taste along with hops. nice finish almost floral but not fruity. Good job Lagunitas The_Beer_God (2798), Newport News, Virginia, USA Jul 10, 2008 Bottle. Copper pour with a short fizzy tan head. Nose is caramel, soft fruit, spices, sweet malts and almost dessert-like. Taste is hoppy, spicy, slight floral with yeast notes, caramel, sweet malts, and dark fruit. Body is thick and slightly creamy with some lingering bitterness. Carbonation is moderate. Finishes with more sweet malts, caramel, spices, soft hops and dark fruit notes. Tasty! drjay44 (80), USA Jul 9, 2008 Exhuberant creamy head, which gradually disappears, rich lacing, pleasant dark color, nose inviiting, but not floral, rather more hop than malt, and not very complex which is a disapointment. The mouth feel is wonderful. moseslikesbeer (153), conestoga, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 6, 2008 bottle from the Captain, thanks Mark! very nice beer. Nice brown color with nice off white head. Smelled of yeast and reminded me of the way most Belgian ales smell. very tart taste and the 7.2 %abv is noticeable but it won’t knock you out. It’s bitter and it almost hints on full body taste. SETANTA (555), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours clear deep mahogany with a fleeting off-white head. Light caramel aroma. The flavor follows the aroma closely with a touch of bitterness towards the finish. One-dimensional and a bit boring but there are no real flavor flaws or detractors here.
