Strong grapefruit and pine nose. big malt heavy bottom that is almost chewable it’s so dense. but it has to be, to hold it’s own against the huge PNW hop bite. Quite easy to drink over and over again.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2009 Pours golden orange with a billowy head and heavy lacing. Aroma is fruity and strong, big citric notes with an underlying syrup sweetness. Flavor is similar in progression, though the middle possesses a bitter, somewhat chalky moment. More balanced than the lesser pales of this brewery. nathan30533 (165), Dahlonega, Georgia, USA

Good overall aroma and strong taste of sweet hops. This one is strong. Great brew. philbertk (110), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2009 Clear amber pour with a half finger white head. Aroma is citrus, caramel, earth, and grass with some light resinous qualities. Flavor is juicy orange, grapefruit and lemon with malt notes of caramel- borderline toffee. On the sweet side, but still maintains an excellent balance. Palate is medium to full bodied with medium effervescence and a sticky smacking finish. Well put together and highly quaffable. italianjohn (394), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Dec 13, 2009 An old love returns. I hadn’t had one of these for a couple of years when my pal Chip bought me one after work on Friday, which, in turn, compelled me to stop for a six-pack on my way home. Pours an orange-yellow beer under a half inch head of white foam. Nose is citrus hops over a sweet malt. And the taste follows directly behind. The hops in this are just right with a balance of citrus and piney resin all borne on a solid, broad, just-barely sweet malt. Finish is just dry enough that the malt sweetness doesn’t linger past its welcome. And the finish hints at some sort of spice. Mighty fine beer. mansquito (849), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Orange color, with some bubbles and a frothy white head. Citrus, flowers, and hops all over the place in the aroma. Tastes almost more like a normal IPA than a double, but it seems almost more full bodied. A bunch of hops and tons of citrus. Really nice body and a really good balance of all the flavors. Easy to drink in virtually any situation, but with the comparatively high alcohol content, that can turn a little crazy. tpd975 (252), Riverview, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 10, 2009 A: Nice golden hue with hints of red showing thru. It pours with a big rocky white head that dies down to a half finger. There is nice sheet lace noted.
S: It has a big pine aroma. There are some undertones of malt and grapefruit, but pine is front and center here.
T: Bold hop character which comes at you mostly pine. Some C hops are used as there is some grapefruit as well. There is a nice malt backbone to balance things out a bit and make this one extra enjoyable.
M: Medium in body, smooth with good carbonation.
