| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Dec 13, 2009 An old love returns. I hadn’t had one of these for a couple of years when my pal Chip bought me one after work on Friday, which, in turn, compelled me to stop for a six-pack on my way home. Pours an orange-yellow beer under a half inch head of white foam. Nose is citrus hops over a sweet malt. And the taste follows directly behind. The hops in this are just right with a balance of citrus and piney resin all borne on a solid, broad, just-barely sweet malt. Finish is just dry enough that the malt sweetness doesn’t linger past its welcome. And the finish hints at some sort of spice. Mighty fine beer. mansquito (836), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 11, 2009 Orange color, with some bubbles and a frothy white head. Citrus, flowers, and hops all over the place in the aroma. Tastes almost more like a normal IPA than a double, but it seems almost more full bodied. A bunch of hops and tons of citrus. Really nice body and a really good balance of all the flavors. Easy to drink in virtually any situation, but with the comparatively high alcohol content, that can turn a little crazy. tpd975 (214), Riverview, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 10, 2009 A: Nice golden hue with hints of red showing thru. It pours with a big rocky white head that dies down to a half finger. There is nice sheet lace noted.
S: It has a big pine aroma. There are some undertones of malt and grapefruit, but pine is front and center here.
T: Bold hop character which comes at you mostly pine. Some C hops are used as there is some grapefruit as well. There is a nice malt backbone to balance things out a bit and make this one extra enjoyable.
M: Medium in body, smooth with good carbonation. potbeercollege (383), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2009 On break from study for exams, Dead Ship of Fools on the radio loud and a smoke. Clear darker orange with medium white head. Aroma of sweet pineapple, citrus and other fruits with less noticeable sweet caramel. Flavor is sweet hoppy with that sticky sugary feel that turns very bitter/dry by contrast. Still easy but interesting. Beer leaves very dry sticky feel on tongue. Satisfying! but circumstances were good. brosen561 (21), Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2009 A nice change from the current streak of winter beers. Pours a clear orange with a nice beige head, with plenty of lacing as it goes down. Very strong citrus aroma with floral undertones. Flavor is "grapefruity", spicy--strongly ginger, nice and not overly complicated. Finishes sweet at first, a nice change from most DIPAs, but hits with a good bit of bitterness just as it goes down. Good and strong (but didn’t remove my enamel, thankfully). NoiZe (1372), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands

Some Citrus and pine, very drinkable. Not that intense as I expected. Still very enjoyable. tastybeer (122), Washington DC, USA
