Lots of papaya on the nose with woody, apricotty notes. Woody, fruity palate has a nice rich bitterness. The balance seems good at first, but a sweetness underlies this beer that makes it difficult to order a second pint. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours out a browish copper color without much of a head on it. Smell is somewhat hoppy with some grassy and pine notes to it. Taste is smooth and easy to drink. Good malty body on it. Some hops help balance it out. Overall it is good but somewhat forgettable in a sea of beers like this. dmac (1503), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 20, 2009 12 oz bottle from EZ Liquors. Pours a clear orange/amber with an average sized bubbly off white head. Aroma has a nice touch of floral hops but and some honey sweetness as well. Medium bodied with full carbonation dspite the flat body appearance and a bitter finish that doesn’t linge to long. Flavors of is biscuit upfront with a slight touch of sweetness before quickly fading into hop bitterness that are more floral than citrus. For an APA it’s pretty good but the price seemed a tad high for Lagunitas as it was over $9.00 eve before tax. Iceman82 (27), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 15, 2009 Gotta love this one!!! Pours a golden copper color with a big, creamy head. Big aromas of pine and hops!! Tastes of citrus hops that start of light and get stronger. Balanced perfectly with a caramel malt flavor. This is a great APA...big, balanced and hoppy! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2009 Dark golden to light amber in color. Smallish, but stable taupe head. Big hoppy aroma. Grapefruit, apricots and pine sap abound. I’m thinking cascade and simcoe, but I really am not one to know. HInts of caramel and toasted biscuits underneath. A hopshead scent that I cannot find much fault in. Sweet citrus start. Like a pulp free grapefruit juice. Quite sharp in the middle and into the finish and linger. Citrus and pine wander about attacking the tongue. Hints of dry pale and caramel malt. For me this lacks any malt depth. A bit of apricot sweetness in the finish, but not enough to solidify this brew. Big hops, light malt, enjoyable for what it is. A hoppy APA. eyesolus (64), Mill Creek, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 10, 2009 12oz bottle; cream soda color head; solid mid amber in color; aroma varied pine with big punches of grapefruit; flavor matched exactly to the aroma; bold in taste while there was a happy medium between the grapefruit and bitterness; really enjoyed this one. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 26, 2009 12oz Bottle. yellow amber color and a small lacing head. nose was nice and hoppy for a pale ale with sweet malt tones throughout. Great hoppiness that just peaks over the malt before leaving a sticky sense in your mouth before the next sip. Great if you like the hoppy version of a pale ale.
