Commercial Description:
This is not the original Pale Ale as brewed in far away 1993 in the back of the Old House of Richards Building in West Marin hamlet of Forest Knolls right next to little Lagunitas. It is way better. Back then the beer tasted like broccoli and kerosene and the carbonation ate right through and drained your stomach into your gut...

Draft at BT. Pours a golden body with a white head. Grassy, hop aroma and some lighter sticky pine and citrus. A honey and nectar note. Fantastic for the style.

Gold, white head. Nose is a pine & grapefruit hop blast, caramel, some tropical fruits. Flavor is grapefruit juice - shockingly so! More than any other pale ale I’ve had, this reminds me of grapefruit juice without the acidity. Some cattiness, orange. Finish is more grapefruity goodness. Very good!

(bottle - 12 oz) Clear gold color with a thick and lasting white head. Aroma is light and hoppy with a smooth citrus and nice floral note. Flavor begins with a bitter citrus bite, moving to a nice and flowery middle and a juicy citrus finish. Smooth and easy to drink with a nice lasting bitterness.

Sampled at Hoptown in Pleasanton, CA. A really quality brew that goes down smooth, has solid hoppiness. Pours clean with light brown and a nice smooth head. Great brew.

Bottle. Pours golden orange with an off white head. Nice citric hop aroma with some sweeter malt. The flavor has a solid dose of citric and floral hops, with a decent malty balance. Dangerously easy to drink.

Light gold/amber in color. Strong smell of hops. Crisp taste with a nutty/malt finish...it is what it is...

Crisp slightly copper coloured orangish-hue body with a fast-dying off-white head. Aroma of fresh malt, fresh light hops, lemons, citrus and a bit of metal. Medium-bodied; Assertive hoppiness up front with a floral and citrus pungency, with some good malt coming behind. Aftertaste shows some alcohol, hop bitterness and a bit of citrusey hops - nice! Overall, a good and well balanced APA. Good for the style and fairly easy to drink for the ABV! I sampled this twelve ounce stubby bottle purchased from Westover Market in Arlington, Virginia on 19-April-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 22-May-2009.

On tap at The Red in Santa Cruz. Poured into a pint glass. Clear dark gold color with a nice, lasting white head. Aroma is unripe citrus and pine needles. Flavor is pale malty without much sweetness, with a huge hoppy dominance. Citrus rind, hop resin, and pine with a nice medium bitterness. Like a beefier SNPA. Refreshing body and carbonation. A very solid pale ale.
