rkuhnel (1144), Eureka, California, USA Jul 9, 2008 I am not sure what is going on and almost missed this.because it was sitting where Dogtown APA used to sit. Does this replace it? From a 12 oz bottle this poured a rich copper color with a fat off-white head and great lacing. Nose of caramel malts and flora hops. Typical Lagunitas mouthfeel, which means rich and smooth. Favor is wonderful with complexity of hops making this a simply wonderful APA. Great slightly bitter finish.
CelticBrew (512), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Oct 6, 2008 Pours a light copper color, somewhat hazy, forming nice size foamy head, aroma immediate of hops, floral citrus, hops and malts. Flavour much of the same, nice and hoppy, refreshing and creamy. Truly close to what I would consider an IPA, but if Lagunitas insists its an APA, so be it, its a superb APA then. ahnuldyess (2), houston, Texas, USA does not count Oct 5, 2008 Light gold/amber in color. Strong smell of hops. Crisp taste with a nutty/malt finish. Fin (2357), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Sep 28, 2008 Had this at the Orsted cafe/bar, Kobenhaven 13-09-08 My notes just say that this was Lagunitas Pale Ale and this looked like the bottle that Ian (Harrisoni) shared, sorry if it is in the wrong place. Pours pale amber. The aroma is very Sierra Nevada like. Hoppy refreshing beer, some pine and tangerine peel, lovely. nearbeer (1334), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 23, 2008 12 oz. Mostly clear, gold-copper. Quarter inch of lasting cream leaves sugary lace everywhere. Big hoppy aroma of grapefruit drizzled with caramel and honey. Flavor is grapefruit with enough caramel malt to provide some balance, and a citrus and resin finish. Light-medium body is smooth and tingly. Pretty uncomplicated, straightforward flavor that could almost be an IPA, but very tasty indeed. Wulfstan (481), California, USA Sep 23, 2008 This is barely mediocre and one of the weaker Lagunitas beers out there in my book. It is light copper with red-brown hitns, a smallish off-white head slowly shrinking to a thin top and some ok lace. The smell is grapefruit, crackers, with faint hitns of caramel and bread. The taste is about the same, ok, mostly just grapefruit and some cracker, but otherwise thin and far too bitter for the body and flavours.
