Aroma is baked apple with some spice. Taste is very good; malty with background of spice, raisins, and brown sugar. Finish is clean, not sticky sweet. A nice understated Belgian. legion242 (1588), Richardson, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 1, 2005 Clear bowon with nice fluffy head. Nose of apples. Decent to good mouthfeel. Very mild malt accents. A nice little beer. jazz88 (2239), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 26, 2005 Bottle. A elegant dark tea brown color with a lush light brown head. A candy spiced malt aroma with ginger, cinamon and orange peal. A spiced, brown sugar, earthy Belgian, and pepper flavors. The finish is mildly sweet and dry. buddahmind (39), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 25, 2005 Eh.... Not so much. Disappointed with this one. Shelf life of the keg came into question also. After a few days it poured like a cask. Bitter and not in a good way. Phunky. Good Brewery though they could afford to kill this one. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 25, 2005 Clear reddish brown appearance, decent head formation. Predominant malt aroma, bready raisins, mild chocolate. Mildly chocolaty malty intro, burnt raisins, dry nuttiness comes later with a fair hoppy bitterness coming in late. Finishes fairly smooth. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 24, 2005 (Draft: 2005 Oregon Brewers Festival in Portland, OR) Not too much aroma going on with this beer, slight sweetness, a bit of Belgian influence I guess. Definitely more Belgian in the flavor, and it comes across as a mild Dubbel. Sweet, but not sugary, and the milid Belgian spice tends to cut down on the sweetness. Mild bitterness picks up steam in the finish. A bit thin despite the sweetness, and a bit dry in the finish too. Muddy, light brown color is very cloudy at first, but settles out to a clear liquid. Light tan head fades fast. Decent, but not enough "Belgian" in it. Let’s call it a Belgian Light. Look forward to trying this again under better tasting conditions. fly (1333), austin, Tejas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 24, 2005 Nice & fruity if rather subtle, which of course is okay. Along with some plum and other fruit I pick up a sweetness (malt) that’s evident in so many of their beers. Understand not messing with something that’s going right, but wish they would make larger leaps as I blieve they could and still wind up with a nice pup. Thanks to both Lagunitas for the draught and Rich for the bottle. dhlesq (233), Thousand Oaks, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Aug 23, 2005 Aroma of overipe plums and nectarines, over toasty bread, with a dash of horseblanket. Appears a crystal clear deep red-brown, like brandy, with slight effervescence of mild bubbles, and a thin head that dissipates quickly. Flavor is sweet, sugary, malt, with the slightest toast, over a horseblanket finish - well-balanced but odd. Palate is medium-light with pleasant effervescence. Overall, this beer is quite pleasant though odd.
