That being said, I tend to prefer wheaty, malty beers that have a shade of sweetness. My favorite local brewhouse, Hollingshead deli, has been recommending this beer, so I decided to give it a whirl. Phenomenal deep brown color with a nice, dirty head. Flavor is a creamy, yeasty malt base that has a hint of sweetness laden with a sugary creme brulee finish. No unpleasant aftertaste at all. I’m definitely buying more of this one. Yum! pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA

These guys are on to something: big earthy, sweaty, yeasty aroma. Fine and delicate carbonation, extra soft mouth feel. All this brown needs is a bit more hooch. Rich spice flavor with some slight coffee, chocolate, caramel and cola flavors. Very flavorful, and really enjoyable. I’d like to see them kick up the ABV and turn this into an over the top strong, that would be a killer Christmas brew. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA

Smooth and rich with that classic Belgian taste, but with an California twist, it still remains true to style but also very true to the way that Lagunitas put their twist of flavor and imparts uniqueness. SOme nice yeasty fresh bread notes along with an almost wine-esque mouthfeel very smooth and rich, with a nice mellow candi sugar flavor that really maks the alchohol component very well. Stcky finish and good right to the last drop 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 13, 2005 The beer pours to a dark mahogany body with a thin whispy off-white head. The aroma is brown sugar and malty and spicy and English walnuts and cranberry. The flavor is like the best brown ale I’ve ever had. Nutty and malty. Plus, it has some spicy belgian characteristics. Very balanced and tasty. The palate is smooth, medium full, and spicy. I could drink lots of this.
