Bottle shared by grOve, thanks. Dark amber colored with a tiny little head. Aromatic; lots of caramel, lots of grain, and a citric hoppiness to balance. Notes of pepper and dried dark fruits. Taste has an extremely strong bitterness with tons of sweet grainy malts to deal with it. Big body. Chewy texture. Lingering bitter finish. Tasty and powerful.

Bottle. Pours amber orange with an off white head. The aroma is sweet and hoppy, with caramel, orange, honeydew and other tropical fruit. The flavor is well balanced with sweet caramel and fruit and a very nice shot of floral hops. Very tasty and very drinkable.

Bottle 650ml,
Appearance: clean amber look with medium large creamy head, light lacing.
Aroma: strong malty, alcoholic aroma. Hint of spice, black pepper and salt with fruity hints and citric hops.
Flavour/Palate:sweet malty base. Fruity, clean approachable for such big brew. Strong yet clean and fairly smooth. Light alcohol finish. Solid Barley.

Draught @ Kahootz - Pours an ambery orange with a decent off white head, aroma is malt and booze above all, on second inspection, I get caramel and dried figs/fruit as well...flavour is bold, sticky honey, citrus, bit of spice, warming alcohol, this really needs to be tasted over a period of time, very enjoyable...

2004 vintage on tap at the Falling Rock for barleywine month . The color was a light orange with a creamy head. I couldn’t smell much but that may have been due to the beer not being in a proper snifter The taste was a little sweet but delicious. The mouth-feel was the absolute best part, so creamy and smooth. My only complaint was that the bartender brought it to me foaming over. This is the Falling Rock, supposedly the best beer bar in CO and the bartender can’t pour a beer properly? My glass was kinda of sticky which is not a good thing. Shameful. I wish I could find this in bottles here in CO because it seems to age well. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 02-22-2007 18:22:12

Draft thanks to the Muddy Pig and Hoenstiens. Nostril clearing alcohol and sweat aroma. Tanned red leather color. Tasty candy malt and very smooth mouth filling finish. Left me wondering what aging might turn loose.

650 ml, 2008 release. Creamy, quarter inch head stays atop the clear ruby-copper body and deposits frosting all over the glass. Aromas of caramel, orange, oak and light cocoa. Flavors of toffee, oak, earthy-spiced raisin, chocolate, whiskey, vanilla, orange and resin. Medium-heavy body is smoothly carbonated, a little sticky in a nice way, and finishes slightly dry.
