clasley (153), Arkansas, USA Jul 30, 2008 650 ml bottle. Pours a rich mahogany with a quickly diminishing tan head. Rich malty nose with notes of figs and cherries. Full bodied malt profile with smooth fruity richness against an appropriate hop bitterness. Finish lingers with a touch of sweetness and a slight alcohol warmth. PolakPorter (82), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 30, 2008 MMmmm...thick, syrupy, malty and oh yeah, bursting with hops! After a long night of drinking, it almost tastes like a strong ipa. Make no mistake, this is a quality barley wine. Beautiful deep golden red color with a sweet, fruity scent. It goes down thick and sweet with a little bitter kick in the ass. A very enjoyable barley wine (but not for weak). pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 27, 2008 tap at south loop binny’s..... a transparent amber brown pour with a medium sized light brown head.... raisins and caramel in the nose as well as a sweet syrupy quality to it..... flavors of sweet dark fruits that lingers and then finishes off on a slightly bitter note. sweetness comes off a little bit too cloyingly for my liking. thick/full syrupy mouthfeel. joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 26, 2008 reddish brown with tan head. flavor of crystal and chocolate malt with some hop bitterness present. this beer is dominated by the maltiness, which likely would become a little more subtle and complex over time, right now it is a solid version, but could improve in time BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jul 26, 2008 22-oz bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours clear tawny with an average, rocky, light brown head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toffee), heavy hops (perfume, resin), average yeast (dough) with notes of dates, apple, pear, and brown sugar. Full bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, heavy sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness. petermadsen (391), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark Jul 26, 2008 An aromatic and delicious barleywine. Loads of hops and malt ind the aroma, citrus is dominating. The flavour is rounded by the malt but the hops are still very up front. Ends with a very balanced bitterness, leaving just enough room for the malt. The palate is a bit too thin for a barleywine in my world, but still a great beer! Nik925 (300), California, USA Jul 22, 2008 SUPER SWEET - great malt but a lot of it - a super lot. Great hop taste but not enough of it, alcohol taste is almost absent which is amazing, well made, but just too much malt sugars remain for me. fidel (884), Livermore, California, USA Jul 20, 2008 Amber, thick, sweet, fruity, piney, malty, alcohol, caramel, bready, hoppy finish.
