theshocker (329), Marietta, Georgia, USA Jun 29, 2008 American style BW, but a bit less hoppy and maltier than bigfoot. Malty aroma, plums and raisins. Flavor matches, with a balanced bitterness. Heavy mouthfeel, smooth finish. Prettttttttttty good. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 28, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a clean clear amber/orange color with nice medium sized head. Aroma was sweet with caramel, light vanilla, and light hop notes dancing around. The body was thick and chewy which was perfect. The taste was just like the aroma with sweet malty light fruity flavor. Real easy to drink. cbeers21 (563), Miami, Florida, USA Jun 26, 2008 Coppery/ruby with minimal head. Brothy, almost meaty body on this one. Caramel, vanilla syrupy sticky body combine on this bedtime brew. Warming and toothcoating, with a sweetness buffering a latent bittering dryness. Alcohol provides a medicinal warmth. Nice for the style. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep mahogany with a nice creamy beigh head. Aroma is malty with caramel sweetness, bread and fruity hops. Very smooth and sweet flavor of caramel malt, alcohol, dried fruit and a hint of brown sugar. Medium to full bodied with a dry and bitter finish cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Jun 25, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of Bockyhorsey - Pours a clear deep amber color with a good one finger thick light tan head which settles to a lasting film. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, esters, and floral hops. Flavor is cookie dough sweet malt. Has a nice hop presences to nicely balance the flavor. Medium to full body. Slight alcohol warming on the stomach. A very nice BW. Thanks Bill. chokmah33 (115), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jun 23, 2008 Buttery, fruity aroma (plum, cherry, apricot). Candy sweet grassy malts, plenty of floral hops. Strong medicinal alchohol aroma. Spicy notes (cayenne, clove, black pepper).
Brown sugar + toffee candy flavor up front. Fruity dominance in mid plum, apple, cherry, berry and apricot. Hoppiness comes out as a peppery grapefruit note.
Lightly toasted biscuit malt finish.
Moves quickly from start to finish, dosn’t have the lingering alchohol taste I find disagreeable with many B-wines.
Smooth palate, some tangy mouthfeel. Clean, syrupy finish that I dig.
This is my favorite B-wine LooseCannon (914), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Jun 23, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours reddish amber in color with brown head. Aroma malt, hops and caramel. Taste malty, caramel and bitter hops with bitter finish. The alcohol is very well hinden for the high alcohol %. JJClark (545), Roscoe, Illinois, USA Jun 23, 2008 22 oz bottle from Mystery Swap 3.0. Pours a nice copper color with a thin off white head. Low carbonation with a medium body. Aroma of malt, alcohol, caramel and hops. Taste like a mess of spices all thrown together with the flavor being bitter and hot. Not well balanced at all. I love barleywines but this one was a big disappointment.
