| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 23, 2008 poured a nice mahogany color with very thin off white head. The had dissipated rather fast leaving a beautiful almost cognac like presence. Aroma was a mix of sweet caramel notes and some leather notes. A hint of oak. Flavor was rich sweet malts, pine-like hops and a kick ass alcohol note to boot. A bit thin on the palate, but still very good. gator2683 (137), Anchorage, Alaska, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 22, 2008 Pours a dark orange color with good clarity and a large, pure white head. The aroma is mildly sprucey hops with a solid toffee/molasses malt aroma. The flavor is wonderful. The hops are the star of the show, but they’re not overpowering. Rather, they blend in perfect harmony with the mildly strong malt sweetness. Vanilla, caramel, and something almost floral are present in the malt while the hops provide a mild spiciness that balances very well. The mouthfeel is also excellent with a clean finish for such a big sweet beer and silky texture. Probably the best ABW I’ve tried. rmussman (905), California, USA
