ogglethorp (882), Ohio, USA May 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours a rich copper color wih a decent sized beige colored head. Aroma is sweet caramel, light citrus, light fruits. Flavor is caramel, citrus, pear, pineapple, raisin. Palate is medium to full bodied, medum carbonation, finished sweet and lightly warming. Nice brew! MrChopin (620), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2008 Drank alongside FFF Behemoth and Victory Old Horizontal. Similar to both, it was more like Behemoth in IPA quality: caramel and citrus in the nose. It was "cleaner" by taste with a less impressive palate and had a little more alcohol present. While still a great beer, it doesn’t match up to the aforementioned two. Madsnp (607), Odense C, Denmark May 7, 2008 Bottle. Ruby copper coloured with a foamy beige head. Nose of dark fruits, hops, caramel and malt. Flavours of malt, raisins, cookies and hops. jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 6, 2008 On tap at Jerry’s. light cherry malt aroma
slightly smoky, burnt wheaty flavor polomagnifico (532), Saginaw, Michigan, USA May 3, 2008 Updated: May 4, 20082008 Vintage. Aroma has notes of apple, raisins, sweet caramel, ripe fruit, alcohol, melon, and citrus hopps. Nice burgundy amber hue with an average off white head that mostly diminished and left some lace. Flavor is sweet raisin caramel malt with a nice fruity hop bitterness on the finish. Palate is full bodied and oily soft with a long finish. Alcohol throughout but not that bad. A very surprising barley wine from a brewery I generally don’t expect much from. This was tasted young and I hope some age will turn this into a very good brew. For $3.99 its not bad, not bad at all! hapjydeuce (763), Del Mar, California, USA May 2, 2008 2008 Vintage. Shared a bottle of this with wetherel and Sean at the PP Bottle Shop. Dark amber appearance with little head and surface bubbles. Leathery caramel aroma with fruitcake and a sweet wet-cardboard tone. The flavor is caramel-covered cherries that gives the finish a sweet tang. Kind of weird. Syrupy body. Obviously it needs at least 6 months of age to improve.
