00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Aug 9, 2007 Pours out a deep brown color with a small head. Aroma is hoppy, sweet and a slight amount of citrus. flavor was very nice with a hop smack to it. This is a great barley wine. one of the better ones that i have had. drawde (115), San Francisco, California, USA Aug 4, 2007 Updated: Dec 10, 2007Very hoppy smell. Silky smooth like maple syrup with a mahogany color to match. Wonderful hoppy yet syruppy flavor. Way hopped-up; non-traditional. badlizard (2325), Berkeley, California, USA Aug 1, 2007 Tasted at Lagunitas. Hazy brown with a fizzy white head. Caramel malt aroma. Sweet caramel and brown sugar taste with some hoppy bitterness to the finish. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Jul 27, 2007 22. 07 cracked 07. A monument to impatience. Or, killing a baby. Pours a hazy garnet amber with a thick, sudsy tan head. Solid sedimentary webs of lace coming down the glass. Big sugary nose with the usual maelstrom of complicated overlapping notes. Usual meaning good. This one has toffee, port, caramel, earthy/leafy hop pepper, and maybe a light tang of pitted tree fruit, cherryish. Thick, velvety body with soft carb and very forward malt suger flavors. The toffee, port, caramel, earth, leaf, and pepper are joined by light hints of acetic tobacco and leather on the mid-palate. Thick, sticky finish with fainter notes from the mid-palate and a little whiff of that peppery hop again. Very nice stuff, even under the harsh glare of an early opening. VikingHammer (362), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA Jul 17, 2007 Reddish pour with a small head. Lots of citrus and caramel in the aroma. Lots of fruits and spicy with a nice alcohol warming. Great Barley wine. TheEpeeist (1430), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 17, 2007 22 oz bottle, 2004. Almost clear brown with some tan head around the edges. Smells a little off; vanilla-caramel, hops, alcohol and light grass. Hops still out front with soapy caramel in the back. Medium light with light carb. Quite bitter after 3 years. glkaiser (1150), Seattle, Washington, USA May 11, 2007 ’04 on tap at Hard Liver. Very smooth....still a bit of hops left after 3 years. Good sweetness and alcohol is very subdued. Slight floral aroma. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark May 10, 2007 65 cl bottle. Clear reddish amber colour with a nice creamy head. Great aroma of caramel, sweetness, fruit and little hoppy. Sweet flavour of caramel, alcohol, dried fruit and ends with a nice bitter finish. Very tasty and full body.
