Nice hoppy and sweet aroma of toffee and dark fruits. Dark amber pour. More toffee and sweet dark malts with a nice fruity presence and a nice floral/peppery hop back. Smooth and creamy enjoyably awesome and incredibly balanced beer.

Quality head, lasting beautifully on a copper/red body. Effervescent, alcohol laden aroma with a rich backbone of caramel maltiness and layers of pine, artificial lemon-scent washing-up liquid, and vinyl fresh from the box. It is inviting in the mouth as it quickly gives the sensation of stickiness, yet not overboard with sweetness. Curious metallic notes, though very subdued and limited to the finish, the only really odd flavor beyond a warming hoppiness and uncomplex caramel blend. This is the second Lagunitas bomber that I've shared with my mother-in-law and both times she quite enjoyed it. This is a very nice beer, especially with food; on its own it wears a bit too heavily on my palate, at least.

Twenty Aught-6 bottle from Bevmo?; Been in the cellar for over a yearl Nose of raisins, caramel, and very light alcohol; rusty red with a small beige head; flavor of caramel, fig newtons, and a slight hint of hop bitterness; finish shows light alcohol warmth and very slight bitterness. Pretty good barlewine; glad I let it rest for over a year in the cellar.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of caramel, malts, resin hops, brown sugar, and earthy hops. Poured dark amber in color with a medium-sized, dense, beige-with-a-hint-of-orange head that lasted throughout. Slightly hazy. Slightly sparkling. Fair lacing. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of brown sugar, hops, dark fruits, resinous hops, Medium to full body. Thick, creamy, chalky texture. Soft to average carbonation. Sweet, hoppy, brown sugar finish. Disappointing.

65 cl bottle. Clear reddish amber colour with a nice creamy head. Great aroma of caramel, sweetness, fruit and little hoppy. Sweet flavour of caramel, alcohol, dried fruit and ends with a nice bitter finish. Very tasty and full body.

[draught] Not the most stand out barleywine - cloudy copper, minimal head - syrupy sweet, almost cloying - dark fruits and toffee that seem more to be fighting for control, rather than working together - a little out of balance, and there is this doughy flavor that could just as easily pass for play dough as it could for cookie dough - not recommended.

The aroma is very likable. It’s got caramel, brown sugar, malt, and hops. The appearance is burnt orange/amber with an average head. The flavor is sweet and bitter with lots of caramel. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s good.

Release 2002: A beclouded burnished copper color on the pour, the head mastodonic in size, spumescent in texture, a winsome tan in color, the residual lace a thick and glutinous sheet to meld with the glass. Hints of pineapple, bubble gum, sweet malt, fresh and appetizing is this nose, start ambrosial, thick malt, the top middling in its feel to the palate. Finish is spitefully acidic, the hops biting in their spiciness, the aftertaste alcohol bitter, long lasting and a nice “Belly Warmer”, and a fine beer from a fine brewery.
