I’m glad that I left the price tag on this one because seeing that I only paid $3.89 for this shows that not all good beers need to be expensive. Pours a very clear orangey brown with a smaller creamy light beige head. Aroma of toffee, honey and raisin. Flavor is nice and sweet with notes of caramel and toffee and no trace of alcohol. This is one well done barley win that I wish I stocked up on. jkwalking05 (1485), Arlington, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 27, 2009 A dark brown very opaque pour with a minimal light tan head despite an aggressive pour. A delightfully complex fruity aroma. Flavor has plenty of alcohol with dark fruit and yeast. Very big and quite nice. The flavor stays steady throughout. Very nice! They were not kidding about that ABV, either. What a good barley wine! RCL (1480), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2008 Bottle of the 2008. Aroma is a great candied pineapple. Flavor reminds me of a really good fruitcake. Sticky sweet with a nice piney hop backbone that doesn’t overpower, even though it is a very fresh bottle. Smells a little off; vanilla-caramel, hops, alcohol and light grass. Hops still out front with soapy caramel in the back. Medium light with light carb. Quite bitter after 3 years. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada

I wasn’t going to bother with this beer, until it was suggested by drewbeerme. Wow, what a surprise. This took to the cask extremely well. Nose is a blend of caramel, toffee, red fruit, and citrus. Alcohol is not noticeable. Caramels, cherries, apples, oranges with fresh PNW hops. Tasty beer. I’ll be picking this up next time I see it.
