Aug 21, 2005 Updated: May 5, 200822oz. bottle. Murky brown color with a small tan head. Nice and sweet malty aroma with lots of caramel and a touch of hops. Flavor is again dominated by the caramel malt(in a great way) with a bitter hoppy finish. Very nice.

Nov 28, 2005 Bottle from odeed I think!! Pours a golden/copper with a lot of bubbles. has a strong hoppy nose with a big blast of sweet candied fruit. Nice in the mouthfeel dept. The sweetness of this is nicely offset by the hops and alcohol.

Apr 12, 2008 On tap at Kelly’s. Hazy caramel, off white head. Aroma is port, fruit, malt, graham cracker. Flavor is the same and the alcohol is well hidden.

Dec 11, 2005 smells like the ocean and your average barley wine, with some cherry licorice. Flavor is much the same. A little hoppy and refreshing feel rather than the heaviness I’m used to after a barleywine, so that was nice. Nice sweet flavors balanced well.

Jun 3, 2008 Chestnut brown with small head. Nose of sweet malt, caramel, hops and citrus. Flavor is spicy hops and sweet brown sugar with caramel. Darker fruits and citrus as well. Very nice body and flavor.

Mar 19, 2005 Strong aroma of hops added with citrus, cherries, and malt. Little frothy head and burnt copper color. A big flavor of sweet malt, candy sugar, added with dark fruit of black cherry and plum. Full bodied and straight out gnarly.

May 10, 2008 22 oz. from Knightly Spirits. This is a great Barleywine. It has the typical barleywine aroma with notes of caramel, raisins, and alcohol potency. Strong flavors of raisins and brown sugar. It is not as severely hopped as some other BW’s, so its finish is not as abrasive. Good stuff.

Mar 22, 2005 Twenty ’Aught-4 Vintage: Deep ruby-mahogony hue, with a thick foamy beige head, mostly lasting. Sweet alcohol nose, sherry, pineapple, caramel, bubblegum, grapefruity pith, resin. Syrupy body is mouthcoating and quite perfect. Chewy caramel malts, toffee, brandy, bubblegum again, syrupy chewy body, finishing with lusciously bitter hops. Very nicely done. Great balance, great alcohol, great brew, great brewery...What else can I say?
