| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 10, 2009 An incredibly complex and delicious beverage. Very sweet, yet also a strong alcohol presence. A very full complex mouthfeel of fruit and roasted malts. Not the heavy hops of most Lagunitas beers, which I guess makes sense for a barley wine.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 22, 2004 1999 vintage: Bottle pours a hazy red color with little head and some surface lace. The aroma is dried fruit, yeast, and light hops. The flavor is mellow, subdued hops, malty, some weird vegetable taste, and slightly alcoholic. It coats the mouth from front to back. Overall, this might have aged a bit too much and lost some of its character. I really only dug this out to wash down the Cantillon Gueuze. Have I rated too much today? Perhaps. No more. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 16, 2008 Pours an amber color with thin off-white head. Aroma is off bright caramel, toffee, light fruit and mild alcohol. Taste is much the same with the overall character being a bit more brash. Carbonation is about average but a little too much for a BW.
