Rich odor of hops and malts. Really smooth beginning, which grows as the flavor expands in your palate. Sweet caramel and sweet fruit are pretty strong in the aftertaste, but there’s just a little hint of a bitter aftertaste. Its not an intense barley wine, but I really like it. blipp (1710), Newark, New Jersey, USA

The aroma is sweet and hoppy, with caramel, orange, honeydew and other tropical fruit. The flavor is well balanced with sweet caramel and fruit and a very nice shot of floral hops. Very tasty and very drinkable. BorksBabe (81), Tampa, Florida, USA

Very dark amber to brown in color with a large brown head and strong lacing. It’s a slight hop flavor but more sweet and cirtus... definitely traces of molasses or brown sugar. Really nice! | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 14, 2009 2008 On draft at Capital Ale House Downtown Richmond. Pours a beautiful burnt orange with fairly decent khaki head that has awesome lacing. Nose is sweet and herbal hops that come out more in the flavor. Raisins, brown sugar, piney hops, this is an amazing barlywine. No detectable alcohol on the nose or flavor, except for just the smallest enjoyable bit of warmaing sensation. Perfect moderately chewy palate, sticky sweet yet, not cloying at all. And such a reasonable price! Grade A brew! bsierra (213), Vista, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 9, 2008 On taps at Newport Pizza. Pours a killer black cherry color with an insane sweet malty/hops nose. The flavor has touches of brown sugar and caramel along with a tangy fruityness. The mouthfeel is very full-bodied and impressive. It finishes with a nice bit of hops and the abv is almost invisible, the only way you can tell it’s there is when you get up off your bar stool, WATCH OUT! Buy a couple 22’s and let ’em age for awhile, GOOD STUFF~ BeerBaron617 (309), Novi, Michigan, USA

Awesome contribution to the stylie in the old way and right way. Smells of malty sweetness with lightly toasted toffee. Taste is sugar butter on toast and raw smooth maltiness that makes this puppy addictive. Mouthfeel is seductive, leaving just enough behind to want more. Awesome beer. Thank you for the beer and the value. Agaguk (120), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
