Flavor was pretty fresh with great grapefruit hop presence and some hints of pine/resin. Malt was subtle and not too sweet. Boutip (2397), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 27, 2009 Bottle: Poured a bright orangey color ale with large foamy head with great retention and perfect lacing. Aroma of floral hops with great notes of grapefruit. Taste is also a very well balanced mix between some floral hops with citrus and grapefruit ester with a subtle bitter finish. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no signs of alcohol. What a surprise and what a great mix between slightly sweet malt with great hoppy presence while not overtaking the beers and more profile then just bitterness. Hop Stoopid is well done 2XIPA, with green hop juice deliciously added to the brew. Lighter ale than I expected, but a full bodied Ale nonetheless. Very well done, and as usual Lagunitas was a deal for a bomber @ the liquor store. TheHulk (151), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 24, 2009 It smells like sticking your nose into what you imagine heaven would smell like if the rivers where malt and the grass was made of perfectly blended hop varieties. Clear, red ale here, a bit too clear for my preference but you’d never know it through the head and a non-transparent glass. The taste is almost like an absolute: This is what IPA taste essence is, in a beer for you to enjoy! SOOOOO smooth, not a palate out of place! A lasting hop presence, but not too strong, which surprises me. Excellent! crashcarr (5), Georgia, USA does not count | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 24, 2009 White thick head that gives complement to the nice hoppy aroma and slightly bitter dry hop taste. Pours a clear gold with about a finger of tight bubbled white head. Big hop aroma, pine, citrus. Also some sweet malt. Taste is what you would expect from a beer that touts its 102 IBUs! Had a bit of a green, vegetal flavor from the hops that lowered my score a bit. Good malt base for all the hops. Drying mouth pucker from the hops. Medium bodied. Solid DIPA, but when you consider the price ($4 for a bomber) it’s a winner. cstuartj (326), Washington, USA
