Smell is all hops with a bit of sweetness and pine. Smells a lot like a Christmas tree actually. Very well balanced between a hoppy bitterness and a malty sweet. I taste orange rind, pine needles, and a thick sweetness in the background. Even as the beer warms up the bitterness does not become overwhelming.Very good IPA. Gypsy19 (639), California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2009 Pours a light orange with a manipulatable head. Aroma was nice and super-hoppy. Flavor as well is bold and super-hopped. I’m also getting some cannabis on the palate. This sounds funny, but it’s not the first time I’ve tasted that in an IPA. Also maybe a little yellow onion? Flavor is very good as a whole. Mouthfeel is surprisingly spritzy, not gooey as expected, and that works with the rest of this. Nice one, Lagunitas. Overall, very good. yesyouam (602), Fairport, New York, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 8, 2009 Lagunitas Hop Stoopid is a crystal clear light amber ale with a dense, foamy, oily white head that leaves solid, dense sheets of foam on the glass. It has a bright, strong, hoppy aroma of grapefruit and pine that’s a touch sweet and possibly floral. It has a fluffy medium body that’s lively with a dry finish. It’s nicely bittered and very lightly sweet. This is a full flavored and refreshing beer. The flavor is mostly citrus and pine, but there seems to be a grassy, floral nuance to it. It’s more flavorful than it is bitter, but it is quite bitter. It has a long, green aftertaste. This is how an IPA should be! Wow! This bomber was, like, four bucks! shawnm213 (946), South Bend, Indiana, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Apr 6, 2009 22 oz bomber. Pours dark clear orange. White head that sort of lingers. Lacing is pretty pretty. Aroma of grapefruit on steroids (just after a 2 hour long workout). Tastes like biting into a grapefruit/flower flavored pineapple. Taste lingers on the palate, daring you to take another sip. Aftertaste becomes stronger and stronger grapefruit/hops.
I don’t know how they did it, but this beer is like you favorite IPA, except on steroids. Watch out, you might get hooked! TaktikMTL (2786), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Apr 5, 2009 Sampled at the Impromptu Butter’s 6th cellar clearance. Clear orange pour with ring of white head. Massive pineapple hop aroma could not improve in any way. Flavor is full and fruity pineapple and bitter and sweet. This is a phenomal Imp IPA. Great name and terrific price. Barrios (858), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
