Pour was chestnut amber with a three finger head which left some nice lacing. Aroma was caramel and pine. The flavor was a caramel malt backbone with hints of chocolate and a piney/resinous finish. Pretty good flavor, but with a lot of these Lagunitas brews, it just lacked a little oomph to take it over the top. The mouthfeel was really carbonated and tingly...really was reminiscent of something hairy. All in all, I liked it.

Aug 29, 2008 Sweet caramel aroma. Flavor of caramel sweetness. A sweet yet bitter hop finish like a young american barley-wine. Tasty.

Aug 6, 2008 12 oz. bottle - Poured a mahogany color with small head. Aroma is sweet like a sucker. Flavor is also sweet, tastes like a cherry blow pop with alochol on the palate. I enjoyed this brew and pretty much evey beer from Lagunitas. Great beer from an awesome brewer !!!

Aug 2, 2008 12 ounce bottle from By The Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a deep brown body with a thick beige head. Nose of sticky caramel maltiness and bitter acidic hops. Creeping booziness that i evident by the end of the bottle. Toffee and dark fruits in the body and lot of malt complexity. Nice beer.

Jul 30, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Secret Santa: Poured a deep dark brown color ale with an average foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of big caramel malt is quite imposing and dominating. Taste is also dominated by some heavy caramel malt with some notes of bitter hops. Lacking some floral or citrus notes with not as much hops as I was expecting considering the brewery. Full body with average carbonation and no discernable alcohol. This one was a bit of a surprise considering the lack of hops (yes there is a lot but not as much as I would expect from Lagunitas) but the malt was very efficient.

Jul 26, 2008 Poured a hazy brown color with a small off white head. Aroma was very malty, some dark fruits, and toffee. Flavor was much the same, very subdued hops, lots of thick thick malts.
