Some pepper as well. Flavor is a lot of citrus at the beginning with a surprisingly balanced middle of hops and pepper. Some sweetness and flowers nearing the end. Finishes clean and slightly bitter. The bitterness doesn’t linger as much as I thought it would. Alcohol is incredibly well hidden. Really nice. Aurelius (2655), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Slightly metallic, lightly chemical, a little mouldering, sweet, strongly west coast hop aroma. Light, tea-brown coloring, clear, fluffy head. Bad bottle with a screw-off cap, bad label, good cap. An off grapefruit flavor -- it tastes like what Lake City, FL smells like on a hot summer day -- sweet, rotten oranges on the road. Bitter, sweet, grassy, orange peel finish. Medium heavy body. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 18, 2009 Nice deep dark brown with a slight red hue. Transparent in appearance, but an awesome color with a nice thick head that sits on top. I am very impressed with the look of this beer. Nice pungent and sharp pine-hop aroma that smells great. A nice subtle malt aroma that comes through as well. Just a very thick hop aroma that is awesome. Really love the aroma. Great balance between between hops and malts. More of a malt aroma which is wonderful. Nice smooth flavor with a bit of an alcohol kick. The hops are great, but it isn’t as trong as I though it would be. A smooth palate that is great. A wonderful balance between malts and hops. This American Strong Ale is exceptional. Alcohol can be a bit overpowering, but you still get a great balance between the hops and malts. The hops aren’t as strong as I would like them to be. This is a great beer, and all should try it. HonkeyBra (1394), Lemont, Illinois, USA

Flavor is kind of too sweet, with a rush of decent hops. Alcohol is a lot higher than i expected. Cool to try. jhumphries69 (736), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 16, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a bright orangey-reddish brown with thick and decently lasting tan head that leaves thick sheets of lace on the glass. Aroma is awesome with an amazing blend of spicy. piney hops with sticky, citrus, candy malts. The flavor starts off with a killer duo of candy malt and nice spicy evergreen characters. Almost to mid-palate, there’s a really bready malt character and a citrus rind bitterness enters. Just past mid-palate, there’s a firm but pleasant bitterness with more bready malts - but the sweetness is now subsiding. The finish is dry and spicy with a pine needle bitterness. The finish is very long and has a grapefruit aftertaste. The mouthfeel is lively and bubbly with a full and creamy body. Overall, a delicious imperial amber - perhaps a triple amber? Reminds me of their Imperial Red. Delicious but its strength catches up with you - it tastes drinkable at first, but before you finish your first one, you realize that its 9+%... warfield (17), Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 15, 2009 classic Lagunitas again, with the huge abv% and the malty sweet caramel finish. but this one has far more balance than the shugga and eyeball. CaryTheDude (1114), Longmont, Colorado, USA

It’s like a hopped-up version of the Hairy Eyeball. Sweet with a good hop backbone. Alcohol isn’t too apparent. Pretty cool.
