| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2008 22oz bottle. Poured deep brown-amber with a moderate sized off-white head. Aroma of earthy, piney hops with some caramel and a hint of cocoa. Flavor begins sweet with big caramel malt and toffee, which is soon joined by big grapefruity hops. Not bad, probably the most I’ve enjoyed a Lagunitas beer. TheShat (131), Lakewood, Ohio, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 1, 2008 Bottle, 22oz. It pours a hazy, golden body with a dense, beige head. Lovely beef-stock aroma, malty, caramelly, sweetish and with a lovely hoppyness. Malty and sweet flavor, pine and resin also playing a major part, nice bitterness, and some beef-stock notes. Full to medium body. So bitter it almost feels stinging in the mouth. Long, piney and resiny finish. Love the hop-profile in this one, and it’s sort of balanced as well, with all its maltyness.
