Almost too malty for my tastes, but it still works on some levels. Lots of caramel and brown sugar. Goes way down hill with even the slightest warmth. Keep it cold. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 23, 2009 12oz bottle courtesy of Corby112. Not sure how to classify this beer. I’d guess its a double red ale. But its quite similar to my own homebrewed DIPA except not as bitter. Huge caramel and citrus nose. Some pine. Flavor is biting grapefruit up front with big caramel notes, clean bitterness. Finishes clean and bitter but does not linger. Pretty darn tasty. Goodgrief (1153), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 21, 2009 This is Lagunitas...a solid, but solidly unspectacular beer. I don’t mean that in a horrible way, but they do put out dozens of these beers that are seemingly all the same. Amber brown with a moderate level of sweetness with moderate to high hoppiness. A tad thin. Unremarkable. nickd717 (1374), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2009 Bottle from Whole Foods in Mountain View. Dark amber color with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and piney hops. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, citrus fruits, piney hops, black tea, and an interesting wood/autumn leaves finish. Palate medium with some hop oils. Good stuff. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 17, 2009 I shared a bottle of this with BeerBaron617. It was a medium amber brown color with a light tan head. It had a great aroma hoppy and fruity, citrus. Tasted quite good, I will have it again if I see it at the store.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 17, 2009 Had this with MereLikesBeer. Poured a medium brown with tan head. Aroma was a good mix of hoppy and malt. Not quite as good as their IPA, but still very good.I would get this again.Cheers! Fairly heavy alcohol noticeable even on the nose. Hops only on first contact, then mellows to a malty grapefruit. Malt and pine, slight spice. Alcohol is still noticeable, but NOT overwhelming. Finishes warm and malty with a slight hops bitterness. Similar profile to some barley wines. Overall, mellow and relatively round mouthfeel. VERY nice. fidelis83 (729), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 14, 2009 Pours a clear copper tinted dark amber with a 1 finger fluffy white head that quickly fades to a skim and ring. Aroma is citrus, sweet grain, caramel, nutty toffee, pineapple glaze, ethanol, some odd grainy notes, grass and a little tea. Flavor is sweet caramel, toasted grain, grapefruit, pine, there are some bitter-almost herbal tasting-notes that I can’t identify and don’t fit this beer well, might be rye, some anise and black tea. Finish is moderately bitter grapefruit with a very boozy back ground and some herbal notes. Palate is thick bodied syrupy throughout, slick on the lips and has a light, yet sharp carbonation. This brew just really didn’t do it for me, pretty ho-hum and very generic.
