The aroma is rich with lightly toasted and caramel malts. The hops are slightly piny and grassy. The appearance is deep amber with an average head. The flavor is astringently bitter with moments of paper and caramel. The palate is thin. The aroma here is the BEST ever, but sadly the flavor does not match it.

Pours dark brownish amber with a small creamy head. Aroma is thick, fruity, syrupy, and vineous with woody, piney hops-pretty much like a barley wine. Flavor is super thick and roasty like a barley wine as well and has a notable dark fruity presence combined with very flavorful hops.

Clear copper color . Sweet malt and piney hop nose. Big caramel malt and lactose sweet taste with plums, other pit fruits. Mild piney hop taste to finish. Very smooth creamy mouthfeel. Good stuff. 11/01/2007

22 ounce bottle picked up in Atlanta, GA
Pours clear red with a stiff off white sticky head.
Very fruity aroma. Seems to be a wonderful blend of toasted and caramel malts, large amounts of citrusy and spicy American hops, and some yeast esters.
The flavors are rather light, or balanced maybe. And that relative. The malty toffee sweetness is there. The hoppy spice and bitter ness are there. And they are playing very nice together. Alcohol is starting to creep in there at the beer warms a bit more.
Light body when compared to the same sort of beer, and that make this beer eeeasy drinkin’. Appropriate carbonation. Balanced finish.
Around 3 buck a bottle. You just can’t go wrong with that.

Spicy citrus, bitter. Bittersweet hops. Amazing price @ beverage warehouse in los angeles ($2.69) Really did not feel like 9.28% abv which allowed to finish off the night with a lagunita red imperial ale.

Cool label. Big, lumpy head. A very hearty brew - nicely blended, hoppy mix. This stuff is sharp, bitter, and strong! There should be a special permit for this stuff. It will grow hair on your chest - and maybe in some other places too.

Pours a clear deep copper with inch an a half light tan head. Nice lacing left behind. The aroma is citrus and pine hops mixed with medium roasted malts. The taste starts up rich and chewy with sweet caramelized malts (90L-ish), hint of toffee and faint molasses. That initial savory malt complexity is quickly cut apart by the hops. The grapefruit and pine hop bitterness jump in and overwhelm the malt sweetness. Even still the malts grow and fade in intensity a couple of times but never much more than a background noise. The main tune here is the hops that go from bitter to a more sweetish flavor and then back to bitter near the finish. I enjoy brews like this, well done. Yummy!!!
