Darkened amber pour, creamy off white head. Inviting rich hop nose of freshly toasted pine and candied grapefruit zest. Soft underlying waves of toffee brittle and hints of mint chocolate cookie emerge as it climbs to room temp. Bitter piney citrus flavors are well balanced on soft boozy caramel malt tones. ABV warms, but doesn’t intrude. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation, dry bitter finish. Fantastic hoppy brew that should be considered for year round distribution in my mind...

Had the "sneak release" instead of the 12th anniversary. Awesome. Hoppy, but very smooth. Almost a grassy aroma. Darker than I expected. Alcohol is present, but not as strong as one would think by looking at the ABV. Bought several more.

Little alcohol flavor. Good balance. Spicy/cinnamony flavor. Strong ale. Good and glad I tried it. Probably wouldn’t drink regularily though.

Pour is a orange with an average white head. Aroma is a heaping dose of pine hops with some dark malts and something like rye. Flavor is a very sweet caramel malts with loads of pine hops. Also showing up are some wood smoke and dark chocolate. Alcohol is suprisingly tame for such a strong beer. This is a good one to find and buy many bottles of.

pours a somewhat cloudy orange amber with a one finger fluffy off white head. aroma is sweet malt, candy sugar, and a nice floral hops with a barley wine and pine characteristics. has a medium body with descent lacing and good carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma, but definitely stronger. is a little slick on the tongue, a little sticky, and has a little bite from the hops. also has a small dry hop aftertaste, and the alcohol is well hidden. very nice i would get more, but i would not want too drink more than two in one sitting.

Pours copper with a bright red glow. Thick head lasts and lasts. Big hoppy citrus aroma with lots of caramel malt to back it up. Flavor is slightly sweet. Body is a bit heavy at first and then this huge bitterness comes through and cleans the pallette nicely. Surprisingly refreshing for a beer of this magnitude.

22 oz bottle. Pours a nice dark amber. Thin white head that sticks around until the very end. Aroma of caramel and sticky hops. Goes down real smooth. Wonderfully bitter mouthfeel that lingers in the back of your throat. Alcohol is hidden throughout, which is surprising.

sampled this twice both times there was cheese pizza and let me say they are a perfect match. Hints of roasted malts, crystal, good american hops. Pours copper/amber. Good flavor, the alcohol is hidden, tastes like a really really good ESB, great crystal malt flavor with slight hints of roasted barley, giving a slight nutty taste, a good dose of hops to balance out that 9.9%. Great beer.
