| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Pours a gorgeous rich mahagony color, with some nice lasting white head. Smell is pretty nice and hoppy with a slight touch of malt perhaps and a bit of noticeable alcohol present especially as it warms some. Taste isn’t undrinkably bitter as I feared, and is nicely hopped however, but the noticeable alcohol taste rather, is what caused me to not like it too much. Finish is mild lasting bitterness and chest warming alcohol. I’m sure this is good for the style, but I don’t like tasting the alcohol in my beer, and this is probably just part of the Strong Ale style. You’ll definitely feel it creeping up on you faster than a regular beer. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Let me be clear about this... I am not a fan of very bitter beers, so this may not be a helpful review for you. However beautiful it looks and smells can’t help the bitter progression in my mouth. The appearance is great but I just can’t handle drinking a beer and actually tasting the alcohol. jefcon (1001), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Great hoppy aromas heavy on grapefruit and lemon. Brown in color with plenty of lacing from the bog of tan head sitting atop the beer. Really nicely bitter, with low astringency and full flavors. A little soapy, with, again, lots of fruit. A really good strong ale. Very reasonably priced, too. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA

Medium body and light carbonation. Bitter woody taste. Almost has an oaky character. Interesting, but not very inviting. madcow75 (425), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA
